Fits Alinco DJ-10, DJ-A10, DJ-100, DJ-W100 radios; replaces OEM EBP-88H, EBP-88, EBP-87 battery packs.
7.4V lithium-ion at 2000mAh delivers 14.8Wh; sustains full transmit power across extended shifts without sag.
Connector is keyed vertical slot with spring latch; seats flush against radio body with no gap or rocking.
We bench-tested the EBP-88H on a DJ-10 charger dock; BMS accepted handshake on first insertion and held stable voltage throughout discharge.
On first use, if the charger dock LED stays amber after inserting this cell, remove the battery, wipe the contact strip dry, and reseat firmly — the Alinco platform needs a clean contact cycle to accept new BMS handshake.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alinco DJ-10 / DJ-A10 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EBP-88H)

This 7.4V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM EBP-88H, EBP-88, and EBP-87 packs used in the Alinco DJ-10, DJ-A10, DJ-100, DJ-W100, and related handheld transceivers. It fits directly into the original battery compartment with no modification. Capacity is rated at 14.8Wh, matching factory specification.

  • DJ-10 / DJ-W100 platform fit: These models share the same battery form factor, connector pinout, and 7.4V nominal rail. One pack covers all variants listed because the BMS handshake voltage range is identical across the series.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DJ-10 unit. The BMS held cutoff correctly at both the low-voltage floor and the transmit current spike during PTT press — no false trips recorded.
  • First insertion into the charger dock: If the dock LED shows a fault on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Alinco dock requires a clean contact cycle to recognise the new BMS before charging begins.

Why the DJ-10 cuts out mid-transmission on a new EBP-88H

New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, not full charge. When you press PTT, transmit current spikes sharply. If the pack hasn't completed its first full charge cycle, that spike can pull cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold and trip a protection shutdown. The radio goes silent mid-call even though the battery appears charged. Run one complete charge before the first use to bring both cells to 4.2V and give the BMS its proper operating headroom.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after a full charge

The DJ-10 reads battery level using a simple voltage-threshold system — each bar corresponds to a voltage window, not a fuel gauge reading. A new pack at storage voltage sits in the lower threshold window and displays fewer bars even after the charger LED turns green. This is a voltage baseline issue, not a defective cell. After the first full charge cycle reaches 8.4V across both cells, the indicator will display the correct bar count on next power-on.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DJ-10 goes silent the moment I press PTT — why does a new battery cut out on transmit?

Transmit current on the DJ-10 spikes well above standby draw the instant PTT is pressed. If the new pack hasn't completed a full charge cycle, cell voltage can momentarily drop below the BMS protection threshold, triggering a shutdown. The radio recovers when you release the button, which confirms it's a voltage-sag trip rather than a hardware fault. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V before first use and the cutout stops.

The charger dock is showing a fault LED and won't start charging the new pack — what's wrong?

The Alinco dock reads the battery's BMS through the gold contact strip before it begins charging. Contamination or a poor contact on first insertion prevents that handshake and the dock flags a fault. Remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it with firm, even pressure. If the fault LED persists after reseating, the cell voltage may be below the dock's acceptance threshold — connect the pack to a compatible external Li-ion charger at 7.4V to bring it above the recovery floor, then return it to the dock.

The DJ-10 drops to weak audio and reduced TX output partway through a shift — battery shows bars but performance falls off.

This is voltage sag under sustained RF load, not a capacity failure. As the cells discharge toward the lower threshold, internal resistance rises and voltage drops more sharply during transmit bursts. The radio's bar indicator lags behind actual cell state because it only samples voltage at rest. The fix is to treat a two-bar reading on this platform as the practical end of shift — swap or charge the pack before the radio enters that window to maintain full TX output.
