Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alula Connect+ Control Panel — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (RE029)

This is a 6V 2500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Alula Connect+ Control Panel, RE524X, RE508X, and RE6100P. It sits inside the panel and takes over when mains power drops, keeping the alarm active and notifications running during an outage. Part number RE029 matches the OEM cell these panels ship with.

  • Connect+ panel family compatibility: The RE524X, RE508X, and RE6100P all use the same 6V backup rail and the same physical housing — the panel BMS expects this specific cell voltage and connector orientation across the entire line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and recharge on the Connect+ platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags after completing its float charge cycle. No tamper or low-battery codes appeared once the panel finished conditioning.
  • Post-install charge window: Do not run a zone or siren diagnostic test in the first 24–48 hours after fitting this battery. The panel charges the new cell slowly from float — triggering a test before charge completes can cause the panel to report low battery mid-test, which is a false reading, not a fault.

Why the Connect+ panel reports low battery hours after a new cell is fitted

The Connect+ uses a float-charge circuit that trickle-feeds the Ni-MH cell rather than fast-charging it. A freshly installed cell starts below the panel's low-battery threshold voltage, so the alert fires almost immediately. This is normal — the panel is reporting actual cell voltage, not a fault with the battery. The low-battery flag should clear on its own after 24–48 hours on mains power once the cell reaches full float charge.

Alarm loses programming during a power outage after battery replacement

If the panel drops its zone programming when mains power fails, the backup battery had not yet been accepted by the BMS at the time of the outage. A new Ni-MH cell needs at least 48 hours on float charge before it can sustain the panel's memory and communication circuits through an outage. Pulling mains power too soon after installation forces the panel to run on a cell that hasn't reached working voltage. Restore mains, allow the full 48-hour conditioning window, and recheck programming before the next test.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Connect+ panel is showing a low battery alert right after I put the new RE029 in — did I get a dud cell?

Almost certainly not. The Connect+ float-charges Ni-MH cells slowly, and a brand-new cell starts below the panel's low-battery threshold voltage. The panel is reading real voltage — it's just low because the cell hasn't charged yet. Leave the panel on mains power for 24–48 hours and the alert will clear once the cell reaches full float charge.

The siren didn't sound when I ran a test immediately after swapping the battery — is the new cell too weak to trigger it?

The siren draw is high enough that the panel holds it back until the backup cell has stabilised above its minimum operating voltage. On a fresh cell, this can take 30–60 minutes to a few hours depending on how depleted the cell arrived. Wait until the low-battery flag clears, then run the siren test — at that point the cell should be holding above 5.4V under load and the siren will fire normally.

After I replaced the battery, the panel showed a tamper fault — I never touched any sensors. What triggered it?

A tamper fault after a battery swap almost always means the panel enclosure lid or battery cover wasn't fully seated when you closed it up. The Connect+ has a lid tamper switch that trips if the housing isn't clicked completely shut. Open the enclosure, press the cover firmly until you hear or feel it click into place, and the tamper fault should clear within a few seconds of closing.
