This is a 9.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH backup battery for the Amano PIX3000 time clock family. It fits the PIX3000, PIX3000xN, PIX3000x, and TS-3000i Web TimeSync, among others. The battery keeps the real-time clock running and holds employee attendance data in RAM during a mains power loss.
- PIX3000 family compatibility: These models share the same 9.6V backup rail, AJR-111000 connector footprint, and BMS handshake requirements. The battery slots directly into any unit in this series without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge, full drain, and reconnect on a PIX3000 unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly, and the clock held its time and employee record data through a simulated mains outage.
- Pre-swap data export: Export all attendance records and employee enrollments before removing power from the unit. The PIX3000 stores this data in battery-backed RAM — once power is fully cut during a swap, that data is gone. Use Amano's PC software to back up the database before you touch the battery.
Why the PIX3000 loses all employee records during a battery swap
The PIX3000 holds employee ID data, punch records, and enrollment information in volatile RAM backed by this 9.6V cell. The moment both the mains and the battery are disconnected at the same time, that RAM loses power and wipes completely. The swap window is short — even a few seconds without either power source is enough to erase everything. Always export via the Amano software first, then swap the battery while mains power is still connected if the unit allows it.
Clock showing wrong time after a power outage even with a new battery installed
Some PIX3000 units use a separate coin-cell RTC circuit alongside the main backup battery. If the main backup drains completely before replacement, the RTC circuit may also discharge below its operating threshold. After installing the new battery, allow a full charge cycle before checking the time — the RTC may need to re-sync via the WebTimeSync function or a manual NTP update. Navigate to the system settings menu and force a time server sync, or set the time manually and verify it holds through a second power cycle.

All my employee punch data disappeared after I swapped the battery — is it gone for good?
If the unit lost mains power at the same time the battery was removed, the battery-backed RAM wiped and that data is unrecoverable from the clock itself. Check your Amano PC software — if automatic polling was enabled, records may have been pulled to the server before the swap. Going forward, run a full data export via the Amano software before removing either power source, and swap the battery while mains power remains connected where the unit allows it.
The fingerprint sensor stops responding after the battery runs flat — why won't it read after I recharge?
The PIX3000's biometric sensor requires a stable minimum voltage from the backup circuit before its processing module initialises. When the battery has been fully depleted, the sensor can fail to come online even after mains power is restored, because the backup rail hasn't recovered enough voltage yet. Let the new battery charge for at least a full charge cycle on mains power before testing the sensor. If it still doesn't respond, power-cycle the unit completely — hold the main power off for 30 seconds, then restart.
The clock keeps drifting several minutes a week even though the backup battery is new — what's causing it?
Timekeeping drift on the PIX3000 isn't driven by the backup battery — the main 9.6V cell only holds the clock during outages, not regulate its oscillator. Drift this large usually points to a degraded internal RTC oscillator circuit or a failed sync connection. Check that the TS-3000i or WebTimeSync function is active and reaching the time server — go to network settings and confirm the NTP address resolves correctly. If sync is working and drift continues, the RTC crystal on the board may need service.
