Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Fire HD 6 — what happened?

The Fire HD 6 charge IC negotiates the fast-charge protocol with the battery's BMS during the first accepted charge cycle. On a fresh replacement cell that negotiation has not happened yet, so the charger defaults to standard rate. Plug in using the original Amazon power adapter and let it complete one full, uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that initial cycle the charge IC recognises the new cell and fast-charge resumes at the normal rate.

The percentage on my Fire HD 6 drops really fast from 100% down to around 70%, then slows right down — is the capacity wrong?
