Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AMX Panjam / Phast VPT-CP / VPN-CP — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (57-0962)
This is a 7.2V 3500mAh Ni-MH replacement for the AMX Panjam, Phast VPT-CP, and VPN-CP survey and test instruments. It replaces OEM part 57-0962 directly. Capacity is 25.2Wh — matching the original specification from the product data.
- Panjam, VPT-CP, and VPN-CP platform fit: These three AMX instruments share the same 7.2V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers all three. No adapter or wiring change needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through probe initialisation and sustained sensor logging sequences. The BMS held stable through the current spike at probe power-up and did not trip under continuous measurement load.
- Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle from the instrument menu before heading into the field. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping it causes the low-battery indicator to fire prematurely on the first measurement session.
BMS lockout after the instrument sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack drops below the BMS recovery threshold, the charger may show no activity and the instrument will not power on. This is a protection state — not a dead cell. Connect the battery to the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before assuming it has failed. Most chargers will begin a trickle recovery cycle and restore the pack to a chargeable voltage above 6.0V.
Readings resetting or dropping out mid-logging session
This happens when sustained sensor load pulls the pack voltage below the instrument's operating threshold for a split second. It is not always visible on the charge indicator because the voltage recovers immediately after the dropout. The root cause is usually a partially degraded original pack — not a charger fault. A fresh pack at full charge holds voltage steady under continuous sensor draw, and the logging session completes without reset.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AMX Panjam powers on fine but shuts down the moment it starts transferring data to a PC via USB — why?
USB data transfer adds a second current draw on top of active sensor load, and the combined pull can push the pack below the instrument's cutoff threshold momentarily. This is more likely with an aged cell that sags under load even when the indicator shows partial charge. A fresh pack at full capacity handles the combined draw without voltage sag. Charge the new pack fully before attempting a USB transfer session.
The new pack will not charge — the charger light stays off or flashes an error after months of the original battery sitting unused in the instrument.
The Ni-MH cells have self-discharged below the BMS recovery floor, which puts the pack in a protection state the charger cannot exit without a trickle input. Leave the pack connected to the charger for 30 to 45 minutes — most chargers will detect the low-voltage state and begin a slow recovery cycle. Once cell voltage climbs back above approximately 6.0V, normal charge resumes. Do not assume the pack is faulty until this recovery window has passed.
The battery percentage on the AMX Phast VPT-CP jumps around on reboot — shows 80%, then drops to 40% on the next startup.
The instrument's voltage-threshold indicator is recalibrating to the new cell's discharge curve, which differs slightly from the worn original pack it replaced. The reading stabilises after two or three full charge-discharge cycles. Run the calibration sequence from the instrument menu after each of the first two full charges — this gives the instrument a consistent reference point and the percentage display settles to accurate readings by the third cycle.
