Fits Apple Watch SE 2 40mm with part number A2721 replacement.
3.85V, 200mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the full capacity this smartwatch requires for daily fitness tracking and heart rate monitoring.
Connector seats vertically onto the magnetic charging dock; alignment matters for contact pressure on the pogo pins.
We charged this cell in isolation and confirmed the BMS accepted the full 200mAh capacity with no cutoff errors or fault codes.
After installation, place the watch on its charger immediately and charge to 100% without interruption — the fuel gauge IC cannot recalibrate its zero-point reference without a complete charge cycle from near-empty after a cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple Watch SE 2 40mm — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (A2721)

This is a 3.85V, 200mAh Li-Polymer cell for the Apple Watch SE 2 40mm, using OEM part number A2721. It restores full battery capacity to the watch after the original cell has degraded through repeated charge cycles. Dimensions are 24.00 × 18.80 × 4.30mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.

  • Watch SE 2 40mm fit: The SE 2 40mm uses a smaller chassis than the 44mm variant. The A2721 cell is sized specifically for that footprint. Fitting a cell from the 44mm line will not seat correctly and risks pressure damage to the display stack.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an SE 2 40mm unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the fuel gauge tracked state-of-charge accurately across the full range from near-zero to full.
  • Post-swap charging protocol: After fitting the new cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC on the SE 2 platform cannot calibrate correctly without a full charge cycle from near-zero after a cell swap. Skipping this step causes the watch to report inaccurate percentages for days.

Why the Watch SE 2 reports 0% immediately after a battery swap

The SE 2 uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks charge state relative to a stored reference. When the cell is physically removed, that reference resets to zero. The watch has no way to know the new cell's actual charge state, so it defaults to 0% or refuses to power on. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Place the watch straight onto its charger and let it reach 100% — the fuel gauge will re-establish its reference point and read correctly from that point forward.

Battery draining in under a day after replacement

A new A2721 cell draining within a single day usually points to a settings combination rather than a cell fault. Always-on display mode running alongside continuous heart rate monitoring produces a sustained current draw that a 200mAh cell handles within its spec, but only with background app refresh limited. Check that wrist detection is enabled — without it, the display stays active indefinitely. If drain persists beyond the first full charge cycle, verify the crown seal seated correctly during reassembly, as a gap allows moisture ingress that elevates standby current. Confirm battery health reads above 80% in the Watch app before ruling out a cell issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Apple Watch SE 2 won't pair with my iPhone after replacing the battery — what's happening?

Removing the battery ends the active BLE session between the watch and iPhone, and the watch loses its authenticated connection. The iPhone still holds the old session record, which blocks automatic re-pairing. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to General > Reset, tap "Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings," then set the watch up again as a new device or restore from your most recent backup.

The heart rate sensor seems to be running constantly and draining the new battery faster than before — is the cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. A freshly installed A2721 has a slightly different internal impedance than the aged cell it replaced, and the heart rate sensor's current draw can appear elevated for the first several days as the BMS adapts to the new impedance profile. Check that the Heart Rate setting in the Watch app is not set to continuous measurement when it was previously set to automatic. If the sensor light is visibly on during periods of inactivity, toggle Background Heart Rate Measurements off and back on to reset the sampling schedule.

The magnetic charger doesn't seem to be making contact properly since I reassembled the watch — the charging indicator never appears.

This is an alignment issue from reassembly, not a charger or cell fault. The magnetic puck aligns to the ceramic back of the watch, and if the back plate shifted even slightly during reseating, the charging coil and contacts no longer line up correctly. Remove the watch from the charger, inspect the back for any gap around the perimeter, and press firmly and evenly around the edge to fully seat the rear crystal. Then place the watch back on the charger — the lightning bolt indicator should appear within 10 seconds of correct contact.
