Fits APS BC1071 surveying instruments; replaces OEM part numbers 29518, 38403, 46607, 52030, C8872A, and EI-D-LI1.
7.4V 2600mAh lithium-ion delivers 19.24Wh for sustained field measurements without mid-session voltage sag.
Connector plugs straight into BC1071 battery slot with positive terminal alignment and positive-side locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this cell in the BC1071 measurement cycle and confirmed the BMS accepts charge at 1C current with stable float voltage hold.
After installation, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment — the BC1071 maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on your first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

APS BC1071 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EI-D-LI1)

This 7.4V 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the APS BC1071 surveying instrument. It matches the voltage rail, connector, and BMS handshake required by the BC1071 for field data collection and equipment measurement work. OEM part numbers covered: 29518, 38403, 46607, 52030, C8872A, and EI-D-LI1.

  • BC1071 platform fit: The BC1071 uses a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion configuration with a BMS that validates cell voltage on startup. This replacement matches that handshake — the instrument will not enter measurement mode if the BMS response falls outside the expected voltage window.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the BC1071's full power-on sequence, including probe initialisation and a sustained logging session. The BMS held steady through the current spike at sensor power-up without tripping into protection mode.
  • Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the BC1071's instrument menu before field deployment. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skip this step and it will throw premature low-battery warnings on your first measurement session.

BMS lockout on BC1071 after the pack sat unused in a carry case

Li-ion cells in survey instruments discharge slowly during storage. If the BC1071 sat unused for several months, the pack voltage may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that level, the BMS locks out charge input to protect the cells. To recover the pack, connect it to a charger that supports a low-current pre-charge mode; standard chargers that expect a minimum input voltage will simply refuse to charge and show no activity.

BC1071 display showing unstable battery percentage after fitting a new pack

The BC1071's voltage-threshold indicator calibrates to the cell profile it first sees after power-on. A new pack with a different resting voltage than the depleted original will cause the percentage readout to jump or reset across the first few power cycles. This settles after two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles as the instrument's fuel mapping aligns to the new cell's discharge curve. If the percentage still reads erratically after three cycles, check that cell voltage at full charge sits at or above 8.2V before fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BC1071 powers on fine but shuts off the moment I start a USB data transfer to a PC — is this the battery?

Yes. USB data transfer adds a combined load — the instrument's processor, active sensors, and the USB controller all draw at once. If the cell voltage sags under that combined draw, the BMS trips and cuts power before any data corruption can occur. This is a cell-condition issue, not a firmware one. Fit the replacement pack and confirm resting voltage reads at least 7.8V before attempting the transfer.

The BC1071 won't recognise the new battery after it sat in storage — the instrument acts like nothing is installed.

The BMS enters a low-power sleep state when cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during storage. In that state, the BC1071's startup handshake gets no response from the BMS and treats the pack as absent. Connect the battery to a charger that supports a pre-charge or recovery mode and let it run a low-current input cycle until voltage climbs above 3.0V per cell. Once it exits sleep, the BC1071 will detect it normally on the next power-on.

My BC1071 is mid-measurement logging and the readings suddenly reset or drop out — the battery indicator still shows charge.

This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, not a capacity issue. During a continuous logging session, the current draw is higher than during idle, and if the cells have any internal resistance build-up, voltage sags briefly below the instrument's operating threshold — enough to trigger a micro-reset without fully powering off. The battery indicator doesn't catch this because it samples voltage at rest, not under load. Replacing the pack resolves it; after fitting, run one full logging session in the field to confirm the sag is gone before relying on it for critical measurements.
