Fits Asus ProBook PU401, PU401LA, and Essential PU401LA models; replaces OEM part number C31N1303.
This 11.1V, 3950mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 43.85Wh — matching the original pack capacity for full runtime on the ultrabook platform.
Connector type is the proprietary Asus four-pin press-fit; orientation is fixed by the keyed slot on the mainboard contact edge.
We ran a full charge cycle on a PU401LA unit; the BMS engaged without fault codes and held voltage under sustained keyboard and display load.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings that appear after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus AsusPro PU401 Series — 11.1V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C31N1303)

This is an 11.1V, 3950mAh (43.85Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Asus AsusPro PU401 series ultrabook. It fits the PU401LA, AsusPro Essential PU401LA, and PU401LA-XB51, among others. The OEM part numbers it replaces are C31N1303 and 0B200-00470000.

  • PU401 series fit: These models share the same three-cell Li-Polymer battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The battery slots into the same physical footprint at 292.50 × 72.34 × 11.18mm with no modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a PU401LA. The BMS communicated correctly with the BIOS, reported accurate state-of-charge, and the protection circuit triggered at the expected low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • First-cycle recalibration on the PU401: After installing, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

Why the PU401 BIOS flags a new battery as poor health

The PU401 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When you swap the cell, the BIOS reads no matching EEPROM record and defaults to a poor health or unknown status flag. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% initiates the learn cycle and writes fresh calibration data to the new cell's EEPROM. After one or two full cycles, the health status normalises.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the PU401

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The displayed percentage no longer matches actual cell voltage, so the laptop cuts off before the gauge reaches 0%. It is not a fault in the replacement cell — it is a calibration lag. Run two or three full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles without interruption. By the third cycle the fuel gauge IC re-maps to the new cell's curve and the readings stabilise to within a few percent of actual remaining capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

The BIOS on my PU401 is showing the new battery as "unknown" or 0% — is the replacement cell faulty?

It is not faulty. The PU401 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM written by the original cell, and a fresh replacement cell carries no matching record. The BIOS flags it as unknown by default. Run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — that single learn cycle writes new EEPROM data and clears the flag.

My PU401 shows 43Wh in Windows battery report but the specs list a different Wh figure — why do they differ?

The Wh figure Windows reads comes from EEPROM data embedded in the original cell's firmware, not from live measurement. A replacement cell ships with its own EEPROM rated value, which may differ slightly from the previous cell's stored figure. The actual usable capacity is 43.85Wh as rated. After two full charge-discharge cycles the OS fuel gauge recalibrates against real cell output and the reported figure settles.

My PU401 battery charge stops at 80% and never goes higher — is the new cell defective?

This is almost always a BIOS charge-limit setting, not a cell fault. Asus notebooks on this platform include a battery health charge mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear — it is controlled by firmware, not the battery itself. Open Asus Battery Health Charging in Windows (or MyASUS app), switch the mode from "Balanced" or "Maximum Lifespan" to "Full Capacity," and the charge ceiling lifts to 100%.
