Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus Chromebook C436FA — 11.55V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C31N1845)
This is an 11.55V, 3600mAh (41.58Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Asus Chromebook C436FA. It replaces OEM part numbers C31N1845 and 0B200-03570000. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds charge or the system reports degraded battery health.
- C436FA platform fit: The C436FA uses a three-cell Li-Polymer pack on an 11.55V rail with a dedicated fuel gauge IC. Any replacement must match that voltage and cell count — a mismatch trips the BMS and blocks charging entirely.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a C436FA unit and confirmed full charge acceptance to 100%, stable BMS handshake, and no cutoff errors during a CPU-plus-display load cycle. The EEPROM handshake completed cleanly on first boot.
- Post-install discharge cycle on the C436FA: After fitting, run the Chromebook down to the automatic hibernate cutoff — do not force shutdown — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This triggers the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this model.
Why the C436FA shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap
The fuel gauge IC on the C436FA maps voltage curves from the old cell. When a new cell is installed, those stored curves no longer match the actual discharge slope of the fresh chemistry. The system reads a rapid voltage drop under CPU-plus-display load and interprets it as a near-empty cell, triggering shutdown well before the real cutoff. Running two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual voltage curve.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor or unknown immediately after install
The C436FA's BIOS pulls health data from EEPROM registers that were written by the original cell during its service life. A replacement cell ships with fresh EEPROM data, which the BIOS flags as a mismatch — showing "poor health" or "0%" on first boot. This is not a fault with the cell. Boot into the Chromebook's battery settings after completing a full learn cycle — charge to 100% uninterrupted — and the health status corrects itself as the BIOS overwrites the stale EEPROM values.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Asus Chromebook C436FA shows the wrong Wh rating in system info after fitting the new battery — is something wrong with the cell?
The Wh figure shown in ChromeOS system info is pulled from EEPROM data that the battery writes during charge cycles. A new cell ships with rated chemistry values that may differ slightly from the previous cell's recorded data, so the figure looks wrong on first read. It is not a fault. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the system will recalculate and display the correct 41.58Wh figure.
The C436FA fuel gauge is jumping around — shows 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes of unplugging. What causes that?
The fuel gauge IC needs calibration cycles against the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity curve. Until it has that data, it interpolates wildly between stored reference points from the old cell, producing the erratic percentage readings you are seeing. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles with no partial top-ups in between, charging fully to 100% each time. After the second cycle, the gauge IC locks onto the new curve and the readings stabilise.
New battery fitted but the C436FA stops charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the cell faulty?
This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Asus Chromebooks include a Battery Care mode in the BIOS and MyASUS settings that caps charging at 80% to slow long-term cell wear. Check Settings → Power in ChromeOS or enter the BIOS and look for Battery Health Charging — if it is set to Balanced or Maximum Lifespan mode, switch it to Full Capacity mode and plug in again.
