Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus Eee PC 1015 Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A31-1015)
This 10.8V, 4400mAh (47.52Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Asus Eee PC 1015 netbook family. It fits the 1015, 1015P, 1015PE, 1016, and over 40 additional variants sharing the A31-1015 / A32-1015 OEM part numbers. Voltage and connector match the stock spec exactly.
- 1015 series compatibility: Every model in this family runs the same 10.8V battery rail with an identical three-cell configuration and the same physical connector and latch geometry. One part number covers the full lineup because Asus kept the power architecture consistent across the 1015 and 1016 range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 1015PE platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the EC controller, current tapered normally at end-of-charge, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage cutoff without needing a manual reset.
- First-cycle calibration on the Eee PC: After fitting, run a single full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery-learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the EC flags after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement
The Eee PC EC stores charge history and wear data from the old cell in its learn registers. When a new cell goes in, those registers still reflect the degraded profile of the original battery. The BIOS reads that stored data — not the physical state of the new cell — and flags poor health straight away. One complete discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycle forces the EC to rewrite those registers against the new cell's actual capacity. After that cycle, the health indicator clears.
Netbook shutting down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated its discharge curve against the new cell's chemistry. The gauge estimates state-of-charge using data it learned from the old, degraded cell, so it reads 25% while the actual cell voltage has already dropped below the safe operating threshold. Under combined CPU and display load, the voltage cliff arrives fast and the EC shuts down to protect the cell. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — by the third cycle the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the remaining-charge readout stabilises. Check that the resting voltage after a full charge reads at or above 12.4V before resuming normal use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Windows shows a different Wh rating for this battery than what's printed on the cell — is something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong. The Wh figure Windows reads comes from the EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS chip, which is set to the rated design capacity of the cell chemistry. The figure on the label reflects the actual measured capacity of this specific cell. These two numbers rarely match exactly, and the gap does not affect charging or discharge behaviour. If the value shown in Windows concerns you, check the "Full Charge Capacity" field in a tool like HWMonitor after two full calibration cycles — it will converge toward the real cell capacity.
The battery stopped charging above 80% after the first few days — did the cell fail already?
This is a BIOS charge-limit function, not a cell fault. Some Eee PC firmware builds activate a charge-threshold setting that caps charge at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Check the Asus Power4Gear or battery care utility in Windows — if a charge limit is enabled there, disable it or set the threshold to 100%. If no utility is installed, enter the BIOS setup at boot and look for a battery health or charge-limit option and set it to full charge.
The Eee PC fuel gauge is wildly inaccurate — jumping from 60% to 15% without warning after fitting the new battery.
The fuel gauge IC on the 1015 learns discharge characteristics from the cell it monitors over repeated cycles. After a cell swap, it still holds the old cell's discharge curve, so percentage estimates are unreliable until it recalibrates. Run three complete cycles — discharge to automatic hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time. By the third cycle the IC has mapped the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve and the gauge stabilises. Do not interrupt charges during these calibration cycles or the IC resets its progress.
