This is an 11.1V 4400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Asus N50 notebook series. It fits the N50, N50A, N50E, N50F, and over 20 additional N50 variants. Capacity is 48.84Wh, matching the original cell specification.

  • N50 series compatibility: All listed N50 variants share the same 11.1V three-cell battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. Part numbers A32-N50, A33-N50, 90-NQY1B1000Y, and 90-NQY1B2000Y all cross to this cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an N50 unit. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge termination triggered at full capacity, and the protection circuit responded normally to load.
  • First-cycle reset on the N50: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Why the N50 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap

The N50 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When you swap to a new cell, that EEPROM data is gone and the BIOS flags the battery as unknown or degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run the full discharge-to-hibernate then full charge cycle and the BIOS recalibrates against the new cell's actual capacity. After two or three full cycles, the health indicator normalises.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The gauge was mapped to the old, degraded cell and misreads the new cell's charge state under load. Under combined CPU and display load, the N50 hits what appears to be a voltage cliff and shuts down — even though real capacity remains. Run three full discharge and charge cycles without interruption. By the third cycle the fuel gauge IC has enough data points to track the new cell accurately, and the early shutdowns stop.

Why does my Asus N50 show 0% or "unknown battery" immediately after fitting the new cell?

The BIOS reads health and state-of-charge data from the EEPROM on the old cell — when that cell is gone, the BIOS has no reference and reports 0% or unknown. This is not a fault with the replacement. Charge the new cell to 100% uninterrupted, then discharge fully to hibernate cutoff. That completes the BIOS learn cycle and the battery registers correctly from that point.

The N50 fuel gauge is jumping around wildly — 60% one minute, 35% the next. Is the cell faulty?

The fuel gauge IC calibrates itself against charge and discharge data from the cell it learned on — your old, degraded cell. With a new cell installed, the voltage-to-capacity curve is different and the IC is reading against the wrong map. This causes erratic percentage jumps, especially under load. Run three full uninterrupted discharge and charge cycles and the IC builds a fresh calibration table for the new cell.

The new battery stops charging at around 80% and never reaches 100% on the N50 — what is causing that?

Some Asus BIOS versions ship with a battery charge limit enabled at 80% to reduce cell wear during extended mains use. This is a firmware setting, not a fault with the replacement cell. Go into the Asus Power4Gear or MyASUS utility, find the battery health charging option, and set it to full charge mode. If the utility is not installed, check BIOS settings under Power Management for a charge limit toggle and disable it.
