Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus P1440FA Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A41N1702-1)

This is a 14.4V, 2800mAh (40.32Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Asus P1440FA notebook. It fits the P1440FA-FA0172R, P1440FA-FA1008R, P1440FA-FA0080, and over 30 additional P1440FA variants. It replaces OEM part numbers A41N1702-1 and 0B110-00480100.

  • P1440FA platform compatibility: All P1440FA variants share the same 14.4V four-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping between sub-models in this series requires no wiring changes — the same cell and BMS communicate identically across the lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on P1440FA hardware. The BMS accepted the charge handshake immediately, the fuel gauge IC began tracking from first cycle, and no error codes were thrown during draw under combined CPU and display load.
  • Post-install calibration on the P1440FA: After fitting, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement

The BIOS on the P1440FA reads health data from EEPROM stored on the old cell. When a new cell goes in, that EEPROM data is gone — the BIOS defaults to a "poor health" or "replace battery" flag because it has no charge history to reference. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running a single full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge resets the learn cycle and lets the BIOS build a fresh baseline. After one or two full cycles the health warning clears.

Laptop shuts off at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell. The old cell's voltage cliff — the point where voltage drops sharply — occurred earlier in the discharge curve. The IC applies that same cliff point to the new cell, triggering a shutdown well before the new cell is actually empty. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and full charge cycles. Each cycle lets the fuel gauge IC re-map the new cell's actual voltage curve, and the early shutdowns stop once the calibration catches up.

Frequently Asked Questions

My P1440FA BIOS shows the new battery as "Unknown" or 0% right after install — is the cell dead?

No — the BIOS lost its reference data when the old cell was removed. The EEPROM on the original battery held charge history the BIOS used to calculate state. With that gone, the system reports zero or unknown until it builds a new baseline. Discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the BIOS will recognise the cell correctly within one to two cycles.

The P1440FA stops charging at 80% and never goes higher — did we send the wrong capacity?

The cell is correct. Asus firmware on the P1440FA includes a BIOS-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% when the battery health extension feature is active. This is not a battery fault — it is a firmware setting. Open MyASUS or ASUS Battery Health Charging in Windows, set the mode to "Full Capacity," and the charge will proceed to 100%.

Windows is showing the P1440FA battery as 40Wh but the BIOS reports a different Wh figure — which is right?

The Wh figure in the BIOS is read from the old cell's EEPROM and does not update automatically after a swap. Windows reads live cell data and reports the actual rated value of the new cell — 40.32Wh — which is correct. The BIOS figure will realign after the first complete discharge-to-hibernate and full recharge cycle clears the cached EEPROM value.
