Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus VivoBook V451LA — 14.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (B41N1304)
This 14.4V, 3150mAh (45.36Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the original B41N1304 cell in the Asus VivoBook V451LA and V451LA-DS51T. It fits the four-cell pack bay directly and connects to the same BMS communication line the laptop expects. Install is straightforward once the back panel screws are removed.
- V451LA and V451LA-DS51T compatibility: Both models share the same 14.4V four-cell Li-Polymer configuration and the same B41N1304 connector pinout. The BMS handshake uses the same SMBus protocol, so the laptop's charge controller recognises this cell without any firmware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge, full-load discharge, and BMS cutoff on the V451LA platform. The protection circuit responded correctly to over-current and low-voltage thresholds, and the charge controller accepted the cell without fault codes.
- BIOS learn-cycle reset after swap: After installing this battery, run it down fully until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to recalibrate against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell replacement.
Why the V451LA BIOS flags a new battery as poor health
The VivoBook BIOS stores battery health data in EEPROM tied to the original cell's cycle count and rated capacity. When a new cell goes in, the EEPROM data no longer matches the actual chemistry, so the BIOS reports degraded or unknown health immediately. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the replacement battery. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge resets that learned data and brings the health indicator back to normal.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens because the fuel gauge IC on the V451LA is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The gauge thinks 20% remaining maps to a safe voltage, but against a new cell it is reading the curve wrong and calling shutdown too early. The fix is two to three full discharge-and-charge calibration cycles, which let the fuel gauge IC re-map its voltage-to-percentage table against the new cell. After calibration, the gauge should track accurately down to the BMS cutoff at approximately 10.0V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My V451LA BIOS says the battery health is "poor" right after I installed the new cell — is the replacement faulty?
The BIOS is reading EEPROM data written by the old cell, not measuring the new one directly. It sees a cycle count and capacity figure that no longer matches the installed hardware and flags it as degraded. Run the battery all the way down until the laptop hibernates, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% — this triggers the BIOS learn cycle and rewrites the EEPROM data against the new cell. The health warning clears after that first complete cycle.
The battery indicator jumps around wildly and the percentage shown seems completely wrong for the first few days — what is happening?
The fuel gauge IC on the V451LA builds its voltage-to-percentage map from historical discharge data stored on the old cell. After a swap, it is applying that old curve to a new cell with different characteristics, which produces erratic readings. It is not a wiring fault or a faulty battery. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycles and the fuel gauge will recalibrate its table against the actual new cell chemistry.
Windows shows the Wh rating in Battery Report as lower than the 45.36Wh spec on the listing — which number is right?
Windows reads the Wh figure from the EEPROM on the battery itself, which stores the manufacturer's rated value at cell production. The EEPROM figure on replacement cells can differ slightly from the actual measured capacity due to rounding in the firmware written at the factory. The 45.36Wh in the listing is the measured capacity we verify on the bench. Run a full discharge cycle and Windows Battery Report will update its "last full charge" Wh figure to reflect the actual cell output rather than the factory EEPROM value.
