Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Auerswald Comfort DECT 610 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 400mAh Ni-MH battery for the Auerswald Comfort DECT 610 cordless handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and powers both active calls and standby mode. Voltage and form factor match the original cell exactly.

  • Comfort DECT 610 fit: The 610 uses a compact single-cell Ni-MH pack rated at 3.6V. The physical dimensions — 47.25 × 34.20 × 7.87mm — match the battery bay. No adapter, no modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the DECT 610 base station. The BMS accepted the pack without error, and charge current behaved normally from the first cycle.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged — a slow first charge lets the cells reach rated capacity. Skipping this step causes the first few cycles to read short.

Base station showing no charge or error light on a new Ni-MH pack

Ni-MH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the pack voltage drops far enough, some DECT base stations reject the charge cycle — the charge indicator stays off or flashes an error. This happens because the base's charge controller expects to see a minimum starting voltage before it begins current flow. The fix is a brief trickle charge: place the handset in the base, wait 20–30 minutes, then remove and re-seat it. This nudges the cell above the acceptance threshold, typically around 3.0V, and the base resumes normal charging.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

A new Ni-MH cell will not deliver full capacity on the first charge cycle — this is normal chemistry behaviour, not a fault. The cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. Each cycle, you will notice a small improvement. To condition the pack, use the handset until it signals low battery, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat this three times before judging talk time against the rated figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Auerswald Comfort DECT 610 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones clear their pairing data when power is fully lost. This is a firmware behaviour, not a fault with the battery. Re-register the handset by pressing the paging or registration button on the base station, then follow the pairing sequence in the Comfort DECT 610 manual — typically pressing and holding the handset's menu button until the registration screen appears.

The Comfort DECT 610 battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins. If the handset is slightly misaligned or the pins are oxidised, the base never actually charges the pack and standby draw empties it by morning. Remove the handset, check that both charging contacts on the handset and base are clean and free of dust, then firmly re-seat the handset until it clicks or sits flush. The charge indicator light on the base should illuminate within a few seconds of correct seating.

After fitting the new battery, the DECT 610 loses range and cuts out when I walk more than a few metres from the base — why?

DECT handsets ramp up transmit power as signal weakens, which draws more current from the battery. If the Ni-MH pack is still in its first one or two conditioning cycles, voltage sags under that RF load and the handset drops the call or loses signal. This is not a defective battery — it resolves after the pack has completed three to five full charge-discharge cycles. Complete the conditioning cycles as described above and re-test range at the same distance.
