Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Avaya B169 Wireless SIP Conference Phone — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (700508893)

This 7.4V, 6800mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Avaya B169 Wireless SIP Conference Phone. It restores talk time and standby capacity when the factory battery degrades. The OEM part number is 700508893.

  • B169 platform fit: The B169 uses a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with a BMS handshake that governs charge acceptance and protection thresholds. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector, so the dock and handset firmware communicate with the pack the same way they do with the original.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on B169-compatible test equipment. The BMS tripped protection at the correct low-voltage threshold and accepted a full charge cycle without thermal flags or fault codes.
  • First-session calibration: After installing a new pack, run one full charge cycle before the first meeting. The B169 maps battery state against voltage thresholds during normal operation, and the indicator may show inaccurate warnings until the system has observed a complete charge-discharge curve.

Voltage sag under combined audio and wireless draw mid-meeting

The B169 runs audio processing and its wireless radio simultaneously during a conference session. That combined draw creates a higher sustained current pull than standby or idle operation. A degraded or deeply discharged pack cannot hold voltage under that load, and the unit may drop its wireless link or restart to protect itself. A fresh pack at full charge maintains the voltage headroom the radio needs to stay connected through a full session.

Charging dock not registering the battery after a swap

If the dock shows no charge activity after fitting a new pack, the most common cause is contact resistance between the pack terminals and the dock's charge pins. Oils from handling or residue on the contacts interrupt the low-current signal the dock uses to detect the pack. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the unit firmly. The dock should begin charging within 30 seconds of proper contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

The B169 won't turn on at all after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?

A replacement pack that sat in storage can enter a deep-discharge lockout state where the BMS blocks output to protect the cells. Place the unit on the charging dock and leave it for at least 20 minutes before attempting to power on — the dock trickle-charges the pack past the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 6.0V for a 7.4V two-cell pack. If the dock light comes on and the unit still won't boot after 20 minutes, remove and reseat the battery to reset the BMS handshake.

The battery indicator shows full but the unit dies partway through a long conference call — why?

The B169 reads battery state by measuring pack voltage against stored thresholds. A new pack that hasn't completed a full charge-discharge cycle hasn't given the system enough data to map those thresholds accurately, so the indicator can read optimistic. Run one complete charge to 100%, use the unit until the low-battery warning appears, then charge fully again — after that cycle the indicator will track actual capacity correctly.

The unit gets noticeably warm during extended conference sessions — is that a battery issue?

Sustained audio processing and wireless transmission together draw continuous current, and that load generates heat inside the enclosed housing. Some warmth is normal, but if the unit becomes hot to the touch or shuts down mid-session, check that the ventilation slots on the housing aren't obstructed. If overheating persists with the housing clear, verify the pack voltage after a full charge with a multimeter — a healthy 7.4V Li-ion pack should read between 8.2V and 8.4V fully charged.
