Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Babyliss T24B / T24C / T24D Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (SHB16)

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Babyliss T24B, T24C, and T24D cordless trimmers. Part number SHB16 matches the original cell format, voltage rail, and connector used across this trimmer series. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds a useful charge or fails to charge at all.

  • T24B, T24C, T24D compatibility: All three models share the same internal battery cavity, 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH architecture, and charging circuit. The SHB16 cell slots into each without modification — same footprint at 50.00 × 28.70 × 26.70mm, same connector orientation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the T24B platform. The charging circuit accepted the cell without fault, reached full charge, and the motor ran at rated speed through the full discharge curve without mid-cycle cutoff.
  • Post-rinse charging on waterproof trimmers: If you rinse this trimmer after use, let the charging port air-dry completely before docking. Moisture bridging the charge contacts can trigger a protection fault the device reports as a dead battery — when the actual cause is contact resistance, not the cell.

Capacity fade from daily partial cycling on the T24B

Ni-MH cells in grooming devices are often charged daily after a short trim — never fully depleted. This shallow-cycle pattern causes the cell's charge acceptance to drift over time, so the indicator shows full but the usable capacity has dropped significantly. Unlike lithium cells, Ni-MH chemistry benefits from occasional full discharge-to-cutoff cycles to recalibrate the internal capacity baseline. A new SHB16 cell will restore full capacity, but the same degradation pattern will return if daily partial charging continues unchanged.

Motor speed drops noticeably before the low-battery indicator activates

This happens because the motor draws a short burst of higher current during thick or dense hair passes, pulling the cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit tracks. An aged Ni-MH cell with elevated internal resistance sags under that load even when the indicator still reads mid-charge. The trimmer's motor slows because it's receiving less voltage, not because the BMS has cut out. Replacing the cell resolves this — check that the resting open-circuit voltage on the new cell measures at or above 4.2V after a full charge before fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

My T24B trimmer slows down halfway through a haircut but the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?

This is voltage sag under motor load, not a faulty indicator. An aged Ni-MH cell has higher internal resistance, so when the motor draws current during a heavier pass, the cell voltage drops enough to slow the motor even though the indicator hasn't caught up. The indicator measures resting voltage, not load voltage — they diverge as the cell ages. Replace the SHB16 cell and confirm the resting voltage reads at or above 4.2V after the first full charge.

I rinsed my T24D and now it won't charge in the dock at all — is the battery dead?

Probably not the battery. Moisture bridging the charge contacts causes a protection trip that the trimmer reports as a charging fault, not a water fault. Remove the trimmer from the dock, dry the charging port with a dry cloth, and leave it upright in open air for at least two hours. Once dry, reseat it in the dock — if the charge indicator activates, the contacts were the issue, not the SHB16 cell.

The dock contacts on my T24C look discoloured and it stopped charging after I started using bathroom cleaning spray nearby — can I fix this?

Cleaning product residue leaves a thin oxidised film on the dock's charging pins, which raises contact resistance enough to stop charge transfer entirely. This is a dock fault, not a battery fault. Use a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean both the dock pins and the trimmer's charge contacts, then let both dry fully before docking. Once the contacts are clean and bright, reseat the trimmer and the charge circuit should resume normally.
