Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bancamiga 8210 / AMP7000 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery for the Bancamiga 8210 and AMP7000 portable payment terminals. It fits directly into the battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake circuit as the original cell. Use this when the factory battery no longer holds a charge or fails mid-transaction.

  • 8210 and AMP7000 compatibility: Both terminals share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why a single battery covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge passes on a live terminal. The BMS accepted the handshake on first connection, charge IC entered top-off mode correctly, and the terminal reported battery status without error flags.
  • First-deployment cycle: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle — including a receipt print — before deploying in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Receipt printer motor spike causing BMS overcurrent trip mid-transaction

The thermal receipt printer in the 8210 draws a sharp current spike at the start of each print job. On a degraded or freshly installed battery, this spike can briefly exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold, triggering a protective cutoff. The terminal interprets this as a power loss and reboots. A new, fully charged cell handles the spike cleanly because its internal resistance is low enough to absorb the surge without hitting the cutoff limit.

Terminal stuck at boot screen after sitting unused for several weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month under storage conditions. If the terminal sat in a drawer long enough, the cell may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or 5.0V total for a 7.4V pack. Below that level, the BMS locks out charging to protect the cell and the terminal cannot complete its PCI boot sequence. Connect the terminal to the charger for at least 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on; most BMS controllers on this platform re-enable charge input once the cell voltage recovers above 2.8V per cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 8210 reboots every time it prints a receipt — is that a battery fault or a terminal fault?

That reboot pattern points to the battery, not the terminal. The receipt printer motor draws a sharp current spike at print start, and a weak or newly installed cell with higher internal resistance can momentarily dip below the BMS overcurrent threshold, triggering a protective shutdown. A fully charged replacement cell with low internal resistance absorbs the spike without tripping. Charge the new battery to 100% before your first live print run.

The charge indicator on my terminal has been stuck at 99% since I installed the new battery — is it actually charging?

Yes — this is normal behaviour on a new cell. The charge IC enters a top-off mode once the cell voltage reaches near-full, applying a low trickle current before declaring a complete charge. That phase can hold the display at 99% for an extended period depending on how the terminal samples voltage. The indicator will drop to accurate readings after one full discharge and recharge cycle through normal use.

My terminal won't power on at all after the new battery was installed — what do I check first?

Check whether the cell dropped below the BMS recovery threshold during shipping or storage — this happens when pack voltage falls below approximately 5.0V total on a 7.4V two-cell pack. The BMS locks out power delivery at that level to prevent cell damage. Connect the terminal to its charger and leave it for at least 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button; once the cell recovers above 2.8V per cell, the BMS re-enables output and the terminal should respond to a normal boot press.
