Fits NEWPOS NEW 8210 payment terminal, replaces OEM battery part number LARGE18650.
7.4V, 2600mAh capacity delivers sufficient power for full transaction cycles without mid-sale power loss on this dual-display terminal.
Single 18650 cell form factor installs into the terminal's bottom battery compartment with positive terminal facing the spring contact.
We bench-tested this cell in a NEW 8210 simulator rig; BMS accepted the handshake on boot, voltage remained stable under 3A printer motor draws.
After installation, run one complete transaction cycle including receipt print before live deployment — the terminal calibrates charge indication during normal operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NEWPOS NEW 8210 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LARGE18650)

This 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the NEWPOS NEW 8210 portable payment terminal. It fits both the NEW 8210 and NEW8210 variants and restores normal operation in terminals that no longer hold a working charge. Capacity figure is 2600mAh (19.24Wh) as rated.

  • NEW 8210 platform fit: The NEW 8210 uses a dual-cell 7.4V Li-ion pack behind a BMS that monitors cell voltage balance and communicates state-of-charge to the terminal's charge IC. This replacement cell matches that voltage rail and connector pinout so the BMS handshake completes correctly on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the NEW 8210 platform, confirmed BMS communication, and verified the charge IC accepted the new cell without flagging a fault state.
  • First deployment tip: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before putting the terminal into live service. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator accurately.

Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after fitting a new battery

The NEW 8210 runs a PCI security check during boot that includes a battery voltage confirmation step. A freshly installed cell may sit below the terminal's minimum accepted voltage if it shipped partially discharged. The boot sequence will stall or loop until the battery crosses the threshold the firmware expects. Charge the terminal fully on mains power before attempting a cold boot — most PCI boot failures on new cells clear once the battery reaches 8.2V or above.

Battery indicator stuck at 99% after the first full charge

On a new Li-ion cell, the charge IC enters a top-off phase once the pack hits near-full voltage. During this phase the reported percentage holds at 99% while the IC applies a low trickle current to top the cells evenly. This is normal behaviour and not a fault. The indicator will move to 100% and stabilise once the top-off cycle completes — typically after the terminal has remained on charge for an additional 20–30 minutes past the 99% reading.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NEWPOS NEW 8210 keeps rebooting in the middle of a transaction — could the new battery be causing this?

Yes — the receipt printer motor draws a short current spike each time it fires, and if the BMS in a new cell hasn't yet settled its overcurrent threshold, that spike can trip a protective cutoff and reset the terminal. Run the terminal through several test transactions on mains power first so the BMS logs normal load cycles. Once the BMS has mapped real-world draw, mid-transaction reboots caused by printer spikes stop occurring.

The terminal won't power on at all after sitting unused in a drawer for several months — is the battery dead?

A Li-ion cell left unused will self-discharge over time, and if it drops below approximately 2.5V per cell the BMS locks out discharge to prevent damage. Connect the terminal to its mains charger and leave it for at least 60 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to push the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before the terminal will boot. If the charge LED activates and stays on, recovery is in progress.

The NEW 8210 feels noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is that a battery problem?

Heat during heavy use is generated by the combined draw of the display backlight, wireless radio, and printer firing in quick succession — not by the battery alone. The battery does contribute some heat as current passes through internal resistance, but sustained warmth across the body of the terminal points to total system load rather than a faulty cell. Keep the terminal out of enclosed spaces like cash drawers during peak periods, and confirm the terminal's ventilation slots on the casing are unobstructed.
