Fits Barnes & Noble Nook Glowlight Plus 2015 model BNRV510, replaces OEM part PR-285083.
3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers sufficient capacity for typical multi-week reading cycles between charges.
Connector is a two-pin JST-type plug; positive lead orients toward the device's upper contact slot.
We bench-tested this cell in the BNRV510 platform — BMS accepted the new pack without fault signals on first insertion.
After installation, charge via USB-C for one complete cycle before regular use; Nook firmware recalibrates battery percentage display after cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Barnes & Noble Nook Glowlight Plus 2015 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PR-285083)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Barnes & Noble Nook Glowlight Plus 2015 e-reader (BNRV510). It fits the 6-inch E Ink model released in 2015 and uses OEM part number PR-285083. Install this when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the device refuses to boot.

  • BNRV510 fit confirmation: The Glowlight Plus 2015 uses a specific slim Li-Polymer cell at 84.15 x 49.50 x 2.70mm. That footprint and the PR-285083 part number together confirm fitment — the connector and BMS handshake match this model only, not earlier or later Nook revisions.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the BNRV510. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags, and the firmware recognised the full 1500mAh capacity after one complete charge cycle.
  • Post-swap charge protocol for the BNRV510: After installing, charge via USB until the indicator shows 100% before first use. The Nook Glowlight Plus firmware recalibrates its battery percentage display against a full charge cycle — skipping this causes the percentage counter to read inaccurately from the start.

Why the Nook Glowlight Plus 2015 won't boot after a new cell is fitted

Li-Polymer cells ship in storage mode — typically between 3.0V and 3.3V. The BNRV510 requires a minimum voltage at the battery terminals before the boot sequence will start. If the cell sits below that threshold, pressing the power button does nothing and the screen stays blank. Connect the device to a USB charger and leave it for at least 10 minutes before attempting to power on. Once the charging circuit brings the cell above the boot floor, the device will start normally.

Battery percentage jumping or freezing after cell replacement

The BNRV510 firmware stores charge-state calibration data tied to the old cell's discharge curve. When a new cell is fitted, that stored data no longer matches the actual voltage, so the percentage display jumps — for example, from 80% to 40% — or locks at a fixed number. This is a firmware recalibration issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Charge the device fully to 100%, then discharge it through normal reading use to below 10%, and charge again to 100%. One full cycle resets the calibration and stabilises the percentage readout.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nook Glowlight Plus shows a low battery warning the moment it powers on after fitting the new cell — is the replacement faulty?

It is not faulty. Li-Polymer cells ship at storage voltage, usually around 3.0–3.3V, which the BNRV510 reads as critically low. The device is reporting accurately based on what it sees at the terminals. Plug into USB immediately and charge to 100% before drawing any conclusions about the cell.

WiFi sync is draining the new battery noticeably faster than just reading — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong. WiFi draw on the BNRV510 pulls significantly more current than E Ink page refreshes alone — the display in reading-only mode is one of the lowest-draw states any device can run. The difference you are seeing is normal and reflects real hardware load, not a weak cell. Switch WiFi off between syncs and the battery level will drop at the pace you would expect from a 1500mAh cell.

Page turns feel slower after the battery swap — could the new cell be causing that?

E Ink refresh on the BNRV510 takes longer when the supply voltage is low, because the display driver needs more time to push the panel through a full refresh cycle at reduced power. If the new cell is still below full charge after installation, voltage is lower than normal and refresh latency increases. Charge the device fully to 3.7V nominal and the page turn response returns to its standard speed.
