Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bauer 20V Brushless Cordless — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1701C-B)
This is a 20V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Bauer 20V Brushless Cordless power tool platform. It fits drills, impact drivers, sanders, and other tools in the Bauer 20V system. OEM part numbers covered include 1701C-B, 1702C-B, 1907C-B, and 1908C-B.
- Bauer 20V platform fit: All listed models share the same 20V rail voltage, battery connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol — that's why a single cell pack covers drills, drivers, and sanders across the range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through a Bauer drill under load and monitored BMS response to motor-start inrush current. The protection circuit held within spec and recovered cleanly between discharge cycles without nuisance tripping.
- First-use break-in on high-torque tools: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This allows the BMS to profile the motor's inrush current draw and set accurate overcurrent thresholds before heavy-duty work begins.
BMS cutoff on drill or saw motor-start inrush surge
When you pull the trigger on a Bauer drill or circular saw, the motor draws a spike of current before it reaches operating speed — often two to three times the running load. A freshly installed or recently stored battery may have its BMS overcurrent threshold set conservatively, causing an immediate shutoff at that spike. If the tool cuts out the instant you squeeze the trigger but restarts fine, this is almost always a BMS trip, not a cell fault. Let the pack sit on the charger for a full cycle, then start the tool under no load before applying torque.
Charger blinking red on a new or stored 20V pack
Bauer chargers reject packs where cell voltage has dropped below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. A battery stored for several months can self-discharge to that point even without use. When the charger blinks red and refuses to begin a charge cycle, the pack is not necessarily dead. Some Bauer chargers have a recovery mode: leave the pack on the charger for 10–15 minutes without removing it — the charger trickle-charges cells back above 3.0V per cell before switching to a normal charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Bauer drill cuts out the moment I pull the trigger on a tight screw — why does it keep tripping?
That cutout is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by motor-start inrush current. The spike when the motor first loads against resistance briefly exceeds the BMS protection threshold. Run the tool at no load for one full trigger pull first — this lets the BMS log a baseline inrush profile before you apply torque. If it still trips under load, clean the battery rail contacts with isopropyl alcohol and check for oxidation adding contact resistance.
The tool feels weak and bogs down halfway through a cut with the sander — battery looks fully charged.
That's voltage sag under sustained load, not a capacity issue. As the cells heat up during extended sanding cycles, internal resistance rises and the voltage rail drops — the tool loses torque even though the indicator shows charge remaining. Let the pack cool for 10 minutes between heavy sessions. If sag starts earlier each time across multiple charges, the cells are entering capacity fade from repeated shallow cycling — discharge the pack fully to below 3.3V per cell before the next charge to reset the BMS state-of-charge calibration.
My Bauer battery worked fine indoors but the drill feels sluggish on a cold morning job site — is the pack failing?
Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the current the cells can deliver without tripping the BMS — the tool runs noticeably weaker even on a fully charged pack. The pack is not failing; cold is compressing its usable output. Warm the battery to room temperature inside a jacket pocket or vehicle for 15–20 minutes before use. Once cells return above 10°C, output recovers to normal levels without any other intervention.
