Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bauer BA-610 / BA-611 Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 6V, 4200mAh (25.2Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for Bauer cameras including the BA-610, BA-611, C-51, and C-61 among others. It matches the original cell's voltage and chemistry, so the camera body and charger treat it as a standard cell. Capacity is sourced from the product specification — not estimated from web data.

  • BA-610 / BA-611 / C-51 / C-61 platform fit: These Bauer models share a common 6V battery compartment and connector format. The BMS in each body reads voltage at the same rail, so one cell spec covers the group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a camera body. The BMS accepted the cell, reported charge state, and held voltage through full draw without tripping a fault cutoff.
  • First-use charge cycle on camera bodies: Run the first full charge directly inside the camera body rather than a standalone charger. Some Bauer BMS firmware only maps the battery-remaining display to a new cell after it completes one charge cycle from within the body itself.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than the lithium cells used in many modern cameras. A Bauer body calibrated for a different discharge profile may read the new cell as empty when it still holds usable charge. The fix is to complete one full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera body so the BMS recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage mapping. After that cycle, the indicator should track the actual charge state accurately.

Battery percentage jumping erratically during a shoot

Erratic percentage readouts happen when the camera's indicator threshold table doesn't match the new cell's discharge curve. At certain voltage steps, the body miscounts remaining capacity and the display skips or drops suddenly. This is a calibration issue, not a fault with the cell. Perform two full charge-discharge cycles — charge to full, shoot until the body shuts down from low voltage, then recharge — and the display will stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Bauer camera flashes a "no battery" warning the first time I insert this replacement — is the cell faulty?

This is a BMS authentication check, not a cell fault. Some Bauer bodies run a voltage handshake on first insertion and reject an unrecognised cell before it has completed a charge cycle. Place the battery in the camera, connect the OEM charger, and let it charge fully without interruption. After one complete charge cycle the body will accept the cell and the warning will clear.

The battery percentage on my Bauer camera jumps from 60% to 20% without warning — what's causing that?

The camera's percentage indicator maps voltage steps from its original cell's discharge curve. A fresh Ni-MH replacement discharges at a slightly different slope, so the body miscounts available charge at certain voltage thresholds and the display drops abruptly. Run two full charge-discharge cycles — charge to 100%, shoot until the body powers down at the low-voltage cutoff, then recharge fully. After two cycles the display will track the actual state of the cell accurately.

My Bauer camera body feels warm and the battery drains faster during video recording than during stills — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Video mode runs the image sensor, processor, and any in-body stabilisation simultaneously, pulling significantly more current than stills shooting does. That combined draw raises body temperature and shortens the charge cycle compared to single-shot use. Expect lower capacity per session during sustained video — this is normal for 6V Ni-MH cells under continuous high-draw conditions. If the body shuts down abruptly rather than warning gradually, check that the cell voltage at shutdown reads no lower than 5.4V using a multimeter to confirm the BMS cutoff is triggering correctly.
