Fits Kyocera 8KX-1 digital camera, replacing OEM battery CS-NP66.
6V at 4200mAh delivers sustained power for image capture and display operation.
Connector slides straight in with positive terminal facing the camera body contact.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH pack through three full cycles; voltage held steady without premature cutoff.
On first charge in the camera body, let the cell reach full capacity before shooting — Kyocera's fuel gauge needs one complete charge cycle from inside the camera to display accurate battery percentage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kyocera 8KX-1 / K-H150 / KB-S820 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This Ni-MH battery replaces the original cell in the Kyocera 8KX-1, K-H150, KB-S820, KD-70E, and over 49 compatible Kyocera camera models. It runs at 6V with a 4200mAh (25.2Wh) capacity. Physical dimensions are 88.95 x 47.55 x 36.50mm — confirm against your current cell before ordering.

  • Shared platform across Kyocera models: These Kyocera models share a common 6V battery format and connector pinout. The BMS in each body reads voltage and temperature from the same reference points, so one cell works across the whole group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on camera hardware, monitoring BMS handshake, temperature response, and cutoff behaviour at low state of charge. The cell maintained stable voltage through the discharge curve without triggering early cutoff.
  • First-install charge cycle: On first use, run a full charge cycle through the OEM charger or camera body before heavy shooting. Some Kyocera BMS implementations require one complete charge cycle from within the camera to accept the new cell and display battery-remaining accurately.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the Kyocera display

Kyocera camera bodies map battery percentage to a voltage-threshold table calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A fresh Ni-MH replacement discharges along a slightly different slope, so the indicator can jump — showing 80%, then 40%, then 70% within a short session. This is not a fault in the cell. After one or two full charge-discharge cycles, the BMS recalibrates its internal reference and the percentage reading stabilises. If the jumping persists beyond two cycles, charge fully to 6V via the OEM charger and repeat.

Flash not fully recycling between shots on a new cell

Flash recycling depends on capacitor recharge current, which draws hard on the battery in the seconds between shots. If the cell is partially discharged or has not yet completed its first break-in cycle, internal resistance is higher than rated — the capacitor recharge slows and the camera forces a longer wait between flash exposures. Fully charge the cell before a flash-heavy shoot. If recycle lag continues after a full charge, the cell's internal resistance may still be elevated from storage — one full discharge and recharge cycle typically brings it down to operating spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Kyocera camera shows a dead battery icon right after I install the new cell — is the battery faulty?

This is a BMS authentication check, not a faulty cell. The camera body expects a charge handshake before it accepts a new cell as valid. Place the battery in the OEM charger or camera body and run a full charge cycle from empty to full. After that first cycle completes, reinsert the cell — the indicator should clear and display a normal charge level.

Shot count seems much lower than expected — the battery reads full but the camera dies early in a session.

Flash, continuous autofocus, stabilisation, and the EVF all draw current well beyond the base spec shot count. The 4200mAh rating reflects total capacity under controlled discharge, not any specific shooting scenario. If you're shooting with flash enabled and continuous AF active, expect significantly fewer shots per charge than the rated figure. Turn off stabilisation and EVF when shooting static subjects to reduce draw and extend each charge.

The camera body is noticeably warm after sustained video recording on this battery — is that normal?

Yes. During video, the sensor, image processor, and stabilisation system run simultaneously and pull sustained current from the cell. That combined draw generates heat in both the cell and the camera body. The Ni-MH chemistry handles this load, but keep ambient temperature in mind — shooting video in a hot environment adds to the thermal load on the body. If the camera shuts down mid-clip, let both the body and cell cool for five minutes before restarting.
