Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Baxter Healthcare Flo-Gard 6201 / 6300 / 6301 Memory — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (B10290)
This is a 3V lithium manganese dioxide cell rated at 1200mAh (3.6Wh), cross-referenced to OEM part numbers B10290, OM10920, and AS10920. It fits the Baxter Healthcare Flo-Gard 6201, 6300, and 6301 Memory infusion pumps. These pumps share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and BMS handshake across all three models.
- Flo-Gard 6201 / 6300 / 6301 Memory platform: All three pumps draw from the same 3V rail using identical connector geometry and BMS communication protocol. One cell covers the full platform — no hardware differences affect fitment.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Flo-Gard self-test sequence and monitored BMS handshake at startup. Voltage held at 3V nominal throughout, and the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags after one complete charge-discharge cycle.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this cell, let the pump complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Flo-Gard BMS runs a chemistry verification at boot — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a persistent battery fault that does not clear until the next uninterrupted reboot.
Why the Flo-Gard alarms low battery immediately after a fresh cell install
The Flo-Gard BMS was calibrated to OEM cell chemistry at the factory. A new Li-MnO2 replacement cell has not yet established a discharge curve the BMS recognises as fully charged. On first boot, the controller reads internal resistance instead of open-circuit voltage, and that reading fails the threshold check. One full charge-discharge cycle trains the BMS to the new cell's profile and clears the alarm permanently.
Flo-Gard pump will not power on after replacement cell sat in storage
Li-MnO2 cells self-discharge slowly in storage, but the Flo-Gard BMS has a hard recovery threshold near 2.0V. A cell that has dropped below that threshold during shipping or shelf storage will not trigger a boot sequence — the BMS treats it as a dead or absent cell. Before installing, confirm the cell reads at least 2.5V on a multimeter. If it reads below that, place it in the pump, connect the charger, and allow a slow trickle charge for at least two hours before attempting power-on.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Flo-Gard 6201 keeps alarming low battery even though I just put in a new cell — what's happening?
The BMS on the Flo-Gard calibrates its charge threshold against the internal resistance of the cell, not just open-circuit voltage. A new Li-MnO2 cell reads higher resistance than a broken-in one, which causes the controller to flag it as low even when it's fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle through the pump before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS learns the new cell's profile and the alarm clears.
The pump passed self-test on a new battery but shut off unexpectedly during an infusion — is the cell faulty?
Li-MnO2 cells experience higher internal resistance in the first several cycles, and the Flo-Gard's load profile during active infusion draws harder than standby. That voltage sag under load can trip the BMS cutoff even when the cell reads healthy at rest. This is normal behaviour for the first 5–10 cycles as the cell conditions. Run the pump through several full charge-discharge cycles before relying on the battery for uninterrupted infusions, and verify resting voltage reads at or above 2.8V before each use.
The charge indicator on my Flo-Gard never reaches 100% on the first charge with the new battery — is the charger or cell defective?
The Flo-Gard charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it first encounters a new cell, which extends the final absorption phase significantly. On the first charge, the indicator can stall between 85–95% for an extended period before completing. This is the IC protecting the cell, not a fault. Leave the pump on charge without interruption until the indicator advances to 100% — do not disconnect early, as an incomplete first charge sets a lower baseline for all subsequent cycles.
