Fits B&B PS-3100 GPS navigator; replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion cell.
3.7V, 1000mAh chemistry delivers full power output for extended field navigation and satellite tracking operations.
Connector sits flush in the PS-3100 battery slot; polarity marked on cell body matches device contacts.
Bench testing showed clean voltage ramp on first charge with no BMS delay or fault codes during discharge cycles.
After installing this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for initial lock versus under one minute for warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

B&B PS-3100 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the factory battery in the B&B PS-3100 portable GPS navigator. It fits the PS-3100 directly and restores power to the device for outdoor navigation and field use. Capacity is 1000mAh (3.7Wh) as specified for this unit.

  • PS-3100 fit: The PS-3100 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion configuration. This replacement matches that voltage rail and the original cell's physical footprint — 52.96 x 33.64 x 5.15mm — so it seats correctly in the battery bay without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We charged this cell through a full cycle and confirmed the BMS held charge cutoff at the correct upper voltage. The protection circuit tripped as expected on over-discharge, preventing cell damage during extended use.
  • Cold-start behaviour after fitting: After a full power removal, the PS-3100 loses its satellite almanac cache. Power the unit on outdoors after fitting this battery and allow it to run a full cold-start acquisition — first satellite fix takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts return to normal lock speed once the almanac rebuilds.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the PS-3100

As the PS-3100 cell drops toward its lower voltage threshold, the GPS receiver draws less current to stay operational. Some GPS units respond by reducing receiver sensitivity, which widens the position error margin. You may notice position drift or a reduced satellite count before the low-battery warning appears. Keeping the cell above 3.5V during active navigation prevents the receiver from entering this reduced-sensitivity state.

PS-3100 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reaches empty

The PS-3100's fuel gauge is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell — or one that has aged differently — can cause the indicator to misread remaining capacity. The device hits its hardware low-voltage cutoff before the on-screen indicator reaches zero. Run two or three full charge and discharge cycles after fitting this battery to let the gauge recalibrate to the new cell's actual curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PS-3100 lost all my saved routes after swapping the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The PS-3100 stores waypoints and saved routes in battery-backed RAM. When the cell is fully removed, that memory loses power and the data is cleared. Export routes to your PC via the companion software before pulling the old battery, then reload them after the new cell is fitted.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the new battery — was it faster before?

That delay is a cold start, not a fault. Removing the battery clears the satellite almanac the PS-3100 caches in memory. Without that cached data, the receiver has to download a fresh almanac from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once the almanac rebuilds, subsequent lock times return to under a minute.

The PS-3100 battery drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus when the device is just sitting on — what's pulling more power?

Active navigation runs two high-draw components simultaneously — the GPS receiver is polling satellites continuously and the display is on at full or near-full brightness. Standby or track-logging with the screen off cuts draw significantly. Reducing display brightness during active navigation is the single most effective step to extend time between charges on this cell.
