Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BenQ Joybook R45 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A32-T14)
This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh Li-ion battery pack for the BenQ Joybook R45 notebook. It replaces OEM part number A32-T14. Fits the Joybook R45 series directly — same connector, same voltage rail, same form factor.
- Joybook R45 platform fit: The R45 uses a single 11.1V three-cell series pack with a standard SMBus-connected BMS. The A32-T14 connector and pin layout are specific to this chassis — the BMS negotiates charge termination and cell reporting through that bus, so voltage and pinout must match exactly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on R45 hardware. The BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes, charge termination triggered correctly at 12.6V, and the SMBus reported cell status cleanly to the firmware.
- First-cycle calibration on the Joybook R45: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The R45 BIOS uses a battery learn cycle to map the new cell's capacity curve — skipping this step causes the fuel gauge IC to report stale data from the old pack, which throws inaccurate health warnings on every boot.
Why the Joybook R45 shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still reading the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell's voltage drops faster under combined CPU and display load than the BIOS expects at that state-of-charge percentage. When the cell voltage hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff — around 9.0V under load — the system cuts power instantly, even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. Running two or three full discharge-to-recharge cycles recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual voltage profile and eliminates the premature shutdown.
BIOS showing "poor battery health" or "unknown" immediately after fitting the A32-T14
The R45 BIOS reads health data cached in EEPROM from the previous pack — it does not auto-reset when a new cell is installed. Until the firmware completes a full learn cycle, it compares the new cell's reported data against the degraded baseline stored from the old battery. Run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then a full uninterrupted charge to 100%, and reboot. After that cycle the BIOS re-writes its EEPROM baseline and the health warning clears.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Joybook R45 battery gauge is jumping around wildly — showing 60%, then 30%, then 80% within minutes of each other. Is the new battery faulty?
The fuel gauge IC in the R45 needs several complete discharge-charge cycles to map the new cell's actual capacity curve. Until it does, the state-of-charge readings are interpolated from the old cell's data and will be erratic. Run three full cycles — discharge to hibernate-cutoff each time, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — and the gauge will stabilise. After cycle three, the readings should track consistently within a few percent.
Windows is showing this battery's Wh rating as lower than what's listed on the product page. Why does the system info show the wrong capacity?
The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS chip, which reflects the rated design capacity of the original cell chemistry. The actual usable energy delivered by the new cells can differ slightly from that stored value without affecting real-world performance. This is a data-reporting difference, not a fault. Check the actual charge level under load over a few cycles — if the pack is sustaining the laptop through normal use, the EEPROM figure can be ignored.
The Joybook R45 stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the new A32-T14 cell defective?
This is almost always a BIOS charge-limit setting, not a cell fault. Some R45 firmware revisions activate a charge ceiling at 80% as a cell-preservation measure, and that setting persists after a battery swap. Check the BIOS power management menu — look for a battery charge threshold or battery care mode option and set it to 100%. If no such option appears, flash the latest BIOS version from BenQ's support page, which re-exposes the full charge range.
