Binatone Easytouch 100 / ICARUS 8 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Binatone Easytouch 100, Easytouch 200, ICARUS 8, and ICARUS 800 cordless handsets. It slots into the battery compartment of the handset and powers wireless calls within range of the base station. When the original pack can no longer hold a charge, this replacement restores full function without replacing the whole phone.

  • Easytouch and ICARUS handset compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH battery format, physical footprint, and connector orientation — one pack covers the full range listed above.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on a Binatone handset. The BMS accepted charge from the base station immediately, and the pack held voltage through standby draw without dropping below the handset's low-battery cutoff threshold.
  • First charge on Ni-MH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells fresh from storage need a slow, full charge cycle to reach rated 800mAh capacity — a short charge on first use will leave the pack underperforming for weeks.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells do not deliver full rated capacity from the first cycle. Fresh packs typically reach 60–75% of rated capacity on cycle one, climbing to full 800mAh over three to five complete charge-discharge cycles. This is a chemistry behaviour, not a defect. Run the handset until the low-battery alert sounds, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — talk time will increase with each cycle.

Base station not charging after battery swap

Ni-MH packs can sit at low voltage during storage, sometimes dropping below the threshold the base station uses to confirm a valid battery is present. If the charge light fails to come on or flashes an error, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly. If the issue persists, check that the handset contacts and base cradle contacts are clean — tarnished contacts raise resistance enough to drop the detected voltage below the base's acceptance threshold, which reads as no battery.

Range drops when the handset's transmit power sags under RF load, which happens when the Ni-MH pack voltage dips during peak draw. On a fresh or unconditioned Ni-MH cell, internal resistance is higher than a broken-in pack, so voltage sags more under the burst current the DECT radio needs. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first — internal resistance falls as the cells condition, and voltage stability under RF load improves with each cycle. After cycle five, check whether range has returned to normal.

My Easytouch handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT cordless phones lose their base pairing when the handset loses power completely during a battery swap — the pairing data is held in volatile memory on certain handsets. Re-registering takes about 30 seconds: press and hold the page or find button on the base station until the base beeps, then follow the handset's registration menu to pair it again. Check the Binatone Easytouch manual for the exact key sequence — it varies slightly between the 100 and 200 models.

The handset battery drains overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This is almost always a seating issue — if the handset is not fully clicked into the cradle, the charging contacts do not make a clean connection and the handset runs on battery all night instead of drawing from the base. Check that the handset drops all the way down and the charge indicator light comes on. If the light stays off after reseating, clean the metal contacts on both the handset base and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat — the charge light should appear within five seconds of correct contact.
