Fits Betacom BC400 cordless phone handset, replaces original 3.6V Ni-MH pack.
3.6V at 800mAh delivers the same talk and standby capacity as the OEM battery.
Connector slides straight into the handset battery slot with a single locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this cell in a BC400 base charger — NiMH BMS accepted voltage within two hours, no error light.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow initial charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Betacom BC400 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 800mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Betacom BC400 cordless phone handset. It slots into the handset and powers all wireless communication with the base station. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds a charge through a normal day of use.

  • BC400 handset fit: The BC400 runs a single-cell Ni-MH pack at 3.6V — the same voltage rail the handset logic board and RF transmitter draw from. Swapping to a pack with a different voltage or chemistry trips the low-voltage cutoff and causes erratic behaviour.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench, monitoring the BMS response at cutoff thresholds. Charge acceptance and voltage curve matched the original OEM spec across multiple cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cordless phone batteries need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — a short first charge leaves the cells only partially formed and you will see shorter talk time from day one.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the new pack

Ni-MH cells in cordless phones need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. The first cycle typically delivers 60–70% of the pack's 800mAh rating. Each subsequent full cycle conditions the cells further. By cycle five, talk time stabilises at the rated level — do not judge the battery on cycle one.

Base station shows no charge or error light after fitting replacement battery

A Ni-MH pack that has sat in storage can drop below the voltage floor the base station uses to detect a valid battery. The charger circuit sees a voltage it does not recognise as a healthy pack and refuses to begin charging. Remove the handset, leave it off the base for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — full contact on the charging pins is required. If the error persists, the pack may need a brief trickle charge to bring the resting voltage above the base acceptance threshold, typically around 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The BC400 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing registration when power is fully removed from the handset, which happens during a battery swap. The handset loses the stored base ID and comes back up unregistered. Put the handset in re-registration mode — on most BC400 units, hold the paging button on the base for three seconds while the handset is powered on. Follow the on-screen pairing prompt to re-register.

My BC400 handset is dead flat by morning even though I left it on the base overnight — is the new battery faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a faulty cell. If the handset is not fully seated on the base cradle, the charging pins do not make clean contact and the handset runs on battery in standby all night. Check that the handset clicks down flush on the base and that the charge indicator light activates. Clean the cradle pins with a dry cloth if the light still does not come on when seated correctly.

Range dropped noticeably after fitting the replacement battery — was the original pack stronger?

The RF transmitter in the BC400 draws from the same 3.6V pack that powers the handset logic. When a new Ni-MH pack is not yet fully conditioned, its voltage sags under the transmit load, which reduces effective output power and shortens range. This is not a permanent fault. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles to condition the cells, and the voltage under RF load will stabilise — range returns to normal once the pack reaches its rated 800mAh capacity.
