Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black & Decker BDCDMT112 / EGBL108 Series — 12V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LBXR12)
This is a 12V 2000mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Black & Decker BDCDMT112 compact drill driver and the EGBL108, EGBL108KB, and GKC108 cordless tool series. It slots into the same slide-rail receiver as the original LBXR12, BL1110, BL1310, BL1510, LB12, and LBX12 packs. Voltage and connector pinout match OEM spec — the BMS handshake clears on the standard Black & Decker charger.
- BDCDMT112 and EGBL108 platform fit: These models share a common 12V slide-rail connector and a three-pin BMS communication line. Any pack carrying the LBXR12 or BL1x10 OEM numbers uses the same physical latch geometry and the same charge-state signalling protocol — which is why a single replacement covers the full group.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the BDCDMT112's motor-start inrush sequence. The BMS cleared overcurrent on trigger pull without nuisance tripping, held the 12V rail steady through mid-torque driving cycles, and accepted a full charge cycle on the standard Black & Decker 12V charger without a fault code.
- First-use break-in on the BDCDMT112: On first use, run the drill at half load — soft wood, small-diameter bits — for two full discharge-charge cycles before pushing it to maximum torque applications. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current signature before it finalises its overcurrent protection thresholds.
BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush with the BDCDMT112
The BDCDMT112 draws a short, sharp current spike the instant the trigger closes — this is motor-start inrush, and it can be two to four times the steady running current. A fresh replacement pack with a conservatively calibrated BMS may trip its overcurrent threshold on that spike before the motor reaches speed. Running the tool at moderate load for the first two cycles teaches the BMS the actual inrush profile of this specific motor and raises the trip threshold accordingly. After that break-in, nuisance cutouts on trigger pull typically stop.
Charger not recognising the new pack after storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during warehouse storage. If a cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the Black & Decker 12V charger's pre-charge detection circuit will refuse to begin a charge cycle — the indicator either blinks red or shows no response. The fix is a short boost charge: leave the pack seated in the charger for 10–15 minutes without removing it, even if no light appears initially. Most chargers will detect cell voltage recovery and transition to normal charge mode once the pack climbs back above the 3.0V-per-cell acceptance threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
My BDCDMT112 shuts off the instant I pull the trigger hard — why does it cut out before the bit even starts turning?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor-start inrush current. The spike when the motor first engages can exceed the BMS protection threshold on a new or cold pack. Run the drill at light load — small bits, soft material — for two full cycles so the BMS can profile the motor's inrush signature before locking in its overcurrent limit. After that, the cutout on hard trigger pulls typically clears.
The drill runs fine on light tasks but bogs down and feels weak when I'm driving large screws or drilling into hardwood — what's causing that?
That's voltage sag under high current draw. When the motor demands more current, internal resistance across the battery's cell-to-contact path causes the 12V rail to drop, and the tool loses torque. Check the slide-rail contacts on both the pack and the tool for oxidation or debris — wipe them with a dry cloth. If contacts are clean and sag persists, the cells are likely capacity-faded from repeated shallow cycling and the pack needs replacement.
My BDCDMT112 feels noticeably underpowered in cold weather even though the battery shows a full charge — is the pack failing?
No — this is normal Li-ion behaviour below about 5°C. Cold temperatures raise the internal resistance of lithium cells, which limits how much current they can deliver without voltage sag, even at full state of charge. Store the battery indoors and fit it to the tool just before use rather than leaving it in an unheated garage or vehicle overnight. At room temperature the pack will return to full output; if it doesn't, bring the cell temperature above 10°C and retest before concluding the pack is faulty.
