Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlackView BV5500 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (416078PH)
This is a 3.85V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery built to fit the BlackView BV5500 rugged smartphone. It replaces OEM part number 416078PH directly. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds charge through a normal day.
- BV5500 cell fitment: The BV5500 uses a fixed connector and a BMS that checks cell voltage and internal resistance at boot. This replacement matches the original voltage rail and connector pinout, so the phone's charge IC accepts the cell without firmware complaints.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the BV5500 board. The BMS balanced correctly, charge termination triggered at full capacity, and no over-temperature flags appeared during the fast-charge phase.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle. The BV5500's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. One full slow cycle lets the coulomb counter reset against the new cell before high-current charging begins.
Why the BV5500 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The BV5500 uses a coulomb counter in the fuel gauge IC to track state of charge. That counter is calibrated to the internal resistance and discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has different impedance, so the learned curve no longer matches reality. The phone reads percentage from a map built on old data. One full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a complete charge cycle forces the IC to relearn the curve against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the BV5500 after replacement
This happens when the fuel gauge IC fires a shutdown before the cell is actually depleted. The BMS trips because the reported state of charge still follows the old cell's voltage cliff model. Under modem or screen load, voltage sags enough to trigger the protection threshold even though real capacity remains. Run one uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle without interruption — let the phone shut itself off naturally at low voltage, then charge to 100% — to push the gauge IC to reset its threshold map to 3.0V per cell floor.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BV5500 won't power on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?
The cell has likely dropped below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage to the Li-Polymer cell. At this voltage, the phone's charge IC will not start a standard charge cycle. Plug into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 30 to 45 minutes without pressing the power button. If the BMS recovers, the charge LED will activate; if the cell voltage is below 2.0V, recovery is not possible and the cell needs replacing.
Fast charging stopped working on the BV5500 after I fitted the replacement battery — why?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BV5500's charge IC sometimes refuses the fast-charge handshake because the new BMS presents different impedance than the IC expects. This is not a fault — it is a protection behaviour. Complete one full slow charge to 100% using a standard 5V charger, then discharge fully. On the second cycle, the charge IC re-negotiates the protocol and fast charging resumes at the correct rate.
The battery percentage on the BV5500 jumps around — 60% one minute, 45% the next — what causes that?
Erratic percentage jumps after a replacement come from the fuel gauge IC reading voltage against a discharge curve that no longer matches the new cell. The coulomb counter accumulates error fast when the reference map is wrong. Force a recalibration: let the phone discharge until it shuts itself off automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After two cycles the readings stabilise — if jumping continues past three cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated and the ribbon contacts are clean.
