Fits BLU VIVO AIR and D980L smartphones; replaces original 3.8V Li-Polymer cell.
Voltage 3.8V, capacity 2050mAh delivers same output window as OEM pack for this device.
Connector aligns with original battery slot; locking tab sits flush against phone chassis frame.
We ran full discharge-charge cycles on the fuel gauge IC; BMS accepted standard 5V charging without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BLU VIVO AIR / D980L — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This is a 3.8V, 2050mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the BLU VIVO AIR and D980L smartphones. It fits directly into either model and restores power capacity to a phone that no longer holds a usable charge. At 81.40 × 60.26 × 2.86mm, the cell matches the original form factor.

  • VIVO AIR and D980L compatibility: Both models run on the same 3.8V battery platform with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the VIVO AIR platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the charge IC completed a full cycle without thermal cutoff.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the VIVO AIR after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. Under modem transmit or screen backlight load, the new cell may sag below the shutdown threshold before the percentage gauge catches up. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve and misreads remaining capacity. One full discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled resets the coulomb counter and eliminates most premature shutdowns.

VIVO AIR not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters lockout and blocks current flow to protect the cell from damage. The phone will show no response — no charge indicator, no boot screen. Connect to a wall charger rated at 5V/1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button; the charge IC needs time to trickle current past the BMS lockout threshold before normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BLU VIVO AIR shows 25% battery and then just cuts off — is the replacement cell faulty?

This is a fuel gauge IC calibration issue, not a defective cell. The coulomb counter is still mapped to your old battery's discharge curve, so it misreads the voltage drop under load. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charging disabled. After that cycle, the gauge recalibrates and the early shutdowns stop.

The BLU VIVO AIR battery percentage jumps around erratically after I fitted the new cell — 60% one minute, 45% the next.

Erratic percentage readings happen because the fuel gauge IC has no reference data for the new cell's impedance and discharge profile. It is estimating, not measuring accurately. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles with the screen on at moderate brightness to give the coulomb counter enough data points to settle. After the second cycle, readings stabilise to within a few percent.

My VIVO AIR feels warm near the battery area during the first few charges with the new cell — is that normal?

A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC pushes slightly more voltage to maintain current flow, generating modest heat. This is normal for the first three to five charge cycles as the cell's impedance drops. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or the charge IC trips and charging stops mid-cycle, charge with the phone face-up on a hard surface and check that the back panel is seated flat with no gaps trapping heat.
