Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlueBird EG-340 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BI-1500)
This is a 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion battery for the BlueBird EG-340 handheld barcode scanner. It fits the EG-340 directly and replaces OEM part numbers BI-1500 and BAT-BI-500. Dimensions are 53.62 × 36.46 × 9.50mm — measure your original pack if you are unsure before ordering.
- EG-340 fit: The EG-340 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion platform with a BMS that monitors cell voltage and temperature during scan trigger events. This pack matches the connector pinout and communicates correctly with the scanner's charge management circuit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger inrush events and wireless polling loads. The BMS held cutoff thresholds within spec and the scanner did not drop connection during burst-scan sequences.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle for a full charge cycle before use. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — starting a pick-and-pack shift on a partially charged new cell can cause the BMS to trip early and interrupt operation.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
EG-340 charging cradles use dock contacts that oxidise over time. When a new pack is seated, higher contact resistance can cause the dock to report a charging fault even though the pack itself is fine. The cradle's charge controller reads the resistance across the contacts as an abnormal condition and halts the charge cycle. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and the charging indicator should clear within 30 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During fast barcode scanning, the EG-340 draws simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio. This combined inrush pulls the cell voltage down sharply for a fraction of a second. If the cell voltage dips below approximately 3.2V during that spike, the BMS may cut output and the radio stack drops its connection to the host. Letting the pack charge fully before a high-frequency scanning session keeps the cell voltage headroom above the BMS threshold and prevents mid-shift disconnects.

Frequently Asked Questions
My EG-340 isn't reading barcodes after I put in the new battery — the laser comes on but nothing scans
The imager or laser module needs a minimum voltage level to operate the decode processor reliably. If the new pack ships partially discharged, the cell may be above the power-on threshold but below what the decode circuit needs under load. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before your first scan session — the reading failure typically clears once the cell reaches 4.1V.
The EG-340 gets noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is that normal?
Sustained scan trigger use combined with constant wireless polling generates steady current draw inside an enclosed plastic housing with no active cooling. Some warmth is expected, but if the scanner becomes hot to the touch, the BMS is likely throttling output to protect the cell. Check that the battery contacts are clean and seated fully — poor contact increases resistance and heat. If the housing stays cool after reseating, the contact, not the cell, was the source.
The new battery doesn't seem to last as long through a shift as the old one did at its best — what's happening?
A new Li-ion cell needs several full charge and discharge cycles to reach rated capacity — the first few shifts will feel shorter than expected. Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both draw from the same 1100mAh reserve, so a high-volume scanning environment will exhaust the pack faster than light-duty use. Run three full cradle charges with normal use between them and check shift endurance again. If capacity still seems low after cycle three, verify the cradle is reaching a full 4.2V charge termination before you pull the scanner.
