Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic Pegaso / P20 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (95A201016)
This 3.7V 3300mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Datalogic Pegaso and P20 series handheld mobile computers. It fits models Pegaso, P20, P20-1001, and 950401003 — all sharing the same cell format and BMS handshake. Capacity is 3300mAh (12.21Wh), matching the original specification.
- Pegaso and P20 platform fit: These models run the same 3.7V power rail and use the same battery bay connector. The BMS communication protocol is identical across the range, so one cell format covers all listed variants without any firmware conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the P20 platform. The BMS negotiated correctly at both ends — no false low-battery flags at full charge, and the protection circuit cut off cleanly at the lower voltage threshold under scan-trigger load.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before taking it to the floor. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged pack on the first shift prevents the BMS tripping on that initial current spike.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
A new battery can trigger a charging fault on the Pegaso cradle even when the pack itself is fine. The most common cause is high contact resistance between the battery terminals and the dock's charging pins — oxidation or debris on either surface interrupts the charge handshake. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle pins with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears, the dock was not making a solid electrical connection, not a fault with the cell.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During fast barcode scanning, the imager and the wireless radio draw current at the same time. On a degraded or low battery, that combined inrush pulls the cell voltage down sharply enough that the radio drops its connection to the access point. The scanner may continue scanning locally but stops transmitting data — which looks like a network issue rather than a power issue. Charge the pack to full before the shift and check that resting cell voltage reads above 3.6V before deploying the unit.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Pegaso scanner stops reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — is the battery dead already?
The battery is almost certainly fine. The imager on the Pegaso needs the cell above a minimum voltage threshold to fire at full power, and a new pack shipped in storage-state charge may sit below that threshold straight out of the packaging. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before first use. Once the cell is above 3.7V resting voltage, the imager will power correctly and scanning should resume normally.
My scanner feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is something wrong with the new pack?
Warmth during an extended shift is normal for this form factor. The Pegaso housing is compact, and the combined draw from continuous scanning and wireless polling generates heat that the enclosure has limited space to dissipate. If the unit is hot to the point of being uncomfortable to hold, check that the scanner is not also sitting in direct sunlight or a heated environment, which stacks thermal load. A pack running genuinely hot at rest — off the scanner, not in use — should be set aside and the cell voltage checked; a healthy cell at rest should read between 3.6V and 4.2V.
The new battery doesn't seem to last as long as the old one did when it was new — what's causing shorter shift endurance?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling rate both pull more current than most users expect. A high-volume pick-and-pack shift with rapid successive scans hits the cell harder than occasional scanning — the combined radio and imager draw shortens usable charge faster than light use suggests. Confirm the wireless polling interval in the device settings; a shorter poll interval keeps the radio active more frequently and accelerates drain. If shift endurance is still below expectation after a full initial charge cycle, log the resting voltage at the start and end of the shift — a cell dropping below 3.4V mid-shift indicates a usage pattern that exceeds the 3300mAh capacity at that discharge rate.
