Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bosch GDS 18V / GCM 18V-216 / GTS 18V-216 — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1600A016GB)
This 18V Li-ion battery replaces the Bosch 1600A016GB / ProCORE18V pack across the GDS 18V impact driver, GCM 18V-216 mitre saw, GTS 18V-216 table saw, and 18 additional Bosch 18V platform tools. Capacity is 8000mAh (144Wh). It uses the same 10-cell configuration as the original ProCORE pack and communicates with the Bosch Electronic Cell Protection (ECP) system directly.
- Bosch 18V platform fit: Every tool in this list runs the same 18V slide-rail connector with a three-pin BMS data line. The pack negotiates with the tool's ECP circuit on connection, so the battery must match the handshake protocol — this one does, across all listed GDS, GCM, GCO, and GTS variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a GDS 18V and a GTS 18V-216. The BMS held through repeated motor-start inrush spikes without tripping, cell voltage balanced correctly under sustained load, and the pack accepted a full charge cycle on a Bosch GAL 1880 CV charger without fault codes.
- First-use break-in on high-torque tools: On first use, run the GDS 18V or any saw in this family at half load for two full discharge cycles before applying maximum torque or rip-cut loads. This lets the BMS record motor inrush current draw and set accurate overcurrent thresholds — skipping this step can cause nuisance cutoffs during heavy fastening.
BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush in the GDS 18V and GTS 18V-216
Both the GDS 18V impact driver and the GTS 18V-216 table saw draw a sharp current spike the moment the trigger closes — often 3–5× the running current. A new pack with default BMS protection thresholds can read that spike as a fault and cut power before the motor reaches speed. This is not a defective battery; it is the BMS acting on uncalibrated limits. Two break-in cycles at partial load teach the BMS the tool's actual inrush signature, and the cutoffs stop. If cutoffs persist after break-in, check rail contact resistance — oxidised contacts increase apparent inrush voltage drop and can re-trigger the BMS.
Charger shows blinking red on a new 8Ah pack after storage
Bosch GAL-series chargers reject packs where any cell drops below approximately 2.5V — a threshold the charger monitors before starting a charge cycle. An 8Ah pack stored for several months can self-discharge to that point, and the charger blinks red rather than beginning charge. Tap the pack contacts briefly against a second Bosch charger or use a GAL 1880 CV in recovery mode if available. Alternatively, leave the pack seated in a cool charger for 10–15 minutes — some GAL units will attempt a trickle pre-charge at low voltage before escalating to full current once cells read above 2.8V per cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GDS 18V cuts out the instant I pull the trigger hard — battery seems fine otherwise. What's happening?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty pack. The GDS 18V impact driver pulls a sharp inrush spike on trigger close, and a new battery with default protection thresholds cuts power before the motor reaches speed. Run the tool at half load — lighter fastening, no impact mode — for two full discharge cycles. After that, the BMS has logged the inrush signature and the cutoffs stop.
The GTS 18V-216 saw bogs badly under a rip cut but the battery reads full charge on the indicator — what's causing the power loss?
Full charge indicator lights reflect resting voltage, not the battery's ability to hold voltage under load. Under a sustained rip cut, high current draw causes voltage sag at the cell level — the rail voltage drops and the motor loses torque. Check that the slide-rail contacts are clean and making firm contact; corroded or worn contacts add resistance and make sag worse. If contacts are clean and sag persists, measure rail voltage under load — anything below 15.5V during a cut points to cell degradation requiring a pack replacement.
This 8Ah pack loses noticeably more capacity in cold weather — is something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong. Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the voltage the pack can sustain under load and makes it appear to discharge faster. The GTS 18V-216 and GCM 18V-216 are often used outdoors or in unheated workshops where this effect is significant. Keep the pack inside at room temperature until you're ready to work, and avoid leaving it in a cold van overnight. Capacity returns to normal once the cells warm above 10°C.
