Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bosch PSR 14.4 LI / PSR 14.4 LI-2 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2 607 336 037)
This is a 14.4V, 3000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Bosch PSR 14.4 LI and PSR 14.4 LI-2 cordless drill-drivers. It matches OEM part numbers 2 607 336 037, 2 607 336 038, 2 607 336 194, and 2 607 336 206. The pack slots directly into the PSR 14.4 base and communicates with the tool's onboard BMS as a standard replacement.
- PSR 14.4 LI and LI-2 compatibility: Both models share the same 14.4V sliding-rail connector and BMS communication protocol. The LI-2 added a fuel gauge LED strip on the pack itself — this replacement supports that display circuit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through five full charge-discharge cycles on a PSR 14.4 LI-2 chassis. The BMS registered correct cell voltage handshake with the Bosch AL 1404 charger on each cycle, and overcurrent protection triggered at expected thresholds during simulated stall conditions.
- Motor inrush conditioning on first use: On the first two cycles, run the drill at half throttle on light fastening tasks before pushing full torque. This gives the BMS time to establish accurate overcurrent thresholds for the motor's start-up inrush current before you hit large-diameter bits or high-resistance fasteners.
BMS cutoff on trigger pull in the PSR 14.4 LI
The PSR 14.4's motor draws a sharp inrush current spike the instant the trigger is pulled — this can be three to five times the steady running current. A new replacement pack fresh from storage may have its BMS overcurrent threshold set conservatively until it completes a full cycle. If the tool cuts out immediately on trigger pull and recovers after a second attempt, the BMS is tripping on that inrush spike. Run one full charge-discharge cycle and the threshold recalibrates to the actual motor load profile.
Charger showing no charge light on a new pack after storage
Li-ion packs in storage self-discharge slowly. If cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, many chargers — including the Bosch AL 1404 — will refuse to start a charge cycle as a safety measure. The symptom is no indicator light at all, or a fast blinking red. Place the pack on the charger, remove it after 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly. If the charger still won't engage, the pack needs a pre-charge pulse — some AL 1404 units initiate this automatically on the third insertion. If voltage is confirmed above 2.5V per cell with a multimeter but the charger still rejects the pack, check the rail contacts on both the pack and charger for oxidation.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PSR 14.4 LI-2 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a large drill bit — why does it keep tripping?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor inrush current, not a faulty battery. When you drive a large-diameter bit into hard timber, the motor demands a short spike of current on startup that can exceed the BMS protection threshold — especially on a pack that hasn't completed a conditioning cycle. Run the pack through one full charge-discharge cycle using light fastening tasks first. After that cycle, the BMS sets its overcurrent limit based on actual motor behaviour and the trips stop.
The drill feels noticeably weak and bogs down under load — it ran fine last month on the original pack. What's happening?
Voltage sag under load is the most likely cause. When cell internal resistance is elevated — either from a partially discharged pack or dirty rail contacts — the voltage at the tool drops as soon as current demand rises. Check the sliding rail contacts on both the battery and the tool handle; oxidation on those contacts adds resistance directly to the power path. Clean them with a dry cloth or isopropyl alcohol. If the pack is below 12.5V at rest, charge it fully before testing again.
The drill loses noticeably more power when I use it outside in winter — is the battery failing?
No — this is normal Li-ion behaviour. Below roughly 5°C, the internal resistance of lithium-ion cells rises sharply, which increases voltage sag under the same load compared to room temperature. The pack isn't damaged; it's operating within its electrochemical limits. Store the battery indoors until just before use, and give it a 10-minute warm-up at light throttle before loading it with high-torque tasks. Performance returns to normal once cell temperature climbs above 10°C.
