Fits Busch-Jaeger model 1519/01, 1519 U, and 9497320 emergency lighting units; replaces OEM part numbers 2TKA00004530 and 2TKA00004531.
This 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH cell delivers the capacity these fittings require to sustain full-brightness operation through the rated emergency discharge cycle.
Connector slides into the vertical slot with polarity marked; the locking tab seats flush when fully inserted and prevents accidental ejection during vibration.
We bench-tested this cell on a Busch-Jaeger charge controller; the BMS accepted the new pack within the first 30 minutes and showed stable float voltage by hour two.
Run a manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for the full rated duration—this confirms the new cell accepts load and allows the charge controller to register capacity before the next scheduled compliance test.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Busch-Jaeger 1519/01 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (2TKA00004530)

This is a 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable cell for the Busch-Jaeger 1519/01, 1519 U, and 9497320 emergency lighting units. It restores backup illumination function when the original cell no longer holds charge. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly.

  • 1519/01, 1519 U, and 9497320 compatibility: These three fittings share the same charge controller circuit, connector pinout, and 3.6V NiMH float voltage. One cell covers all three variants without any wiring modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and full-load discharge on a 3.6V NiMH controller. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, floated correctly at full charge, and held stable voltage under load throughout the test cycle.
  • First-cycle commissioning on a live fitting: After installing the new cell, hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours. This confirms the cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register the new capacity before the next scheduled compliance test.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

A replacement NiMH cell shipped from storage typically arrives at a reduced state of charge — often below the float acceptance window the 1519/01 charge controller expects. The controller interprets this as a fault condition and holds the red indicator. This is not a faulty cell or a faulty fitting. Leave the fitting connected to mains for a full 24-hour charge cycle and the indicator will shift to green once the cell voltage climbs into the acceptance band above 3.6V.

Emergency light dims or cuts short during a duration test

If the light fades or shuts off before the rated duration on the first test after replacement, the cell has not completed an initial conditioning cycle. A new NiMH cell does not reach full capacity until it has been fully charged and then fully discharged at least once under real load. Run a full 24-hour mains charge first, then re-run the duration test. If the cell still falls short after two complete charge-discharge cycles, check the terminal voltage under load — it should hold above 3.0V for the full rated period.

Frequently Asked Questions

The fault LED on my 1519/01 is still on after I've fitted the new battery and left it on charge overnight — what's wrong?

Some 1519/01 and 1519 U fittings latch the fault LED in hardware and will not clear it automatically even after the cell recovers. The charge controller needs a manual reset: disconnect mains power for 30 seconds, then reconnect. This forces the controller to re-read the cell voltage from scratch. If the LED clears after reconnection, the installation is good and the fitting is operating normally.

My emergency light passed the last compliance test but fails the duration test now, even with the new battery installed — why?

A freshly installed NiMH cell needs one complete charge-discharge cycle before it delivers its rated capacity. The charge controller cannot tell the difference between a conditioned cell and a new one straight from packaging. Run 24 hours on mains charge, then trigger a full manual duration test by holding the test button. Check that terminal voltage stays above 3.0V throughout — if it does, the cell is performing correctly and the next scheduled compliance test should pass.

The old battery in my 1519/01 fitting was visibly swollen when I removed it — is there a risk the fitting itself is damaged?

Swelling in NiMH cells in these fittings is almost always caused by years of continuous trickle charge at elevated temperature inside a sealed luminaire body. The cell vents internally and the casing expands. Before fitting the replacement, inspect the battery contacts for corrosion or carbon tracking from any electrolyte weeping — clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and allow them to dry completely. If the contacts are pitted or the connector housing is discoloured, replace the connector before installing the new cell.
