Fits CR-P2 camera flash and light meter applications; replaces OEM part 2CP4036, 223, 5024LC, CR17-33, DL223A, EL223, K223LA, PC223A and equivalents.
Supplies 6V at 1500mAh; powers film camera shutters, light metering circuits, and flash charging cycles without needing recharge capability.
Cylindrical lithium cell installs with flat positive terminal facing outward; check polarity orientation if device does not accept the fresh cell.
We bench-tested this cell across vintage flash systems; voltage held steady through full discharge cycles with no premature cutoff from the BMS equivalent.
Store CR-P2 cells away from metal objects and conductive surfaces — exposed terminals can self-discharge against metal in a drawer or toolbox.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Camera 2CP4036 — 6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (CR-P2)

This is a 6V, 1500mAh lithium manganese dioxide CR-P2 cell. It fits film cameras, rangefinders, and vintage flash systems that require the CR-P2 format. Cross-references include 223, DL223A, EL223AP, K223LA, 5024LC, VL223, and PC223A.

  • CR-P2 format compatibility: All devices listed above share the same CR-P2 footprint, terminal layout, and 6V nominal requirement. The cell slots into the same battery compartment regardless of which part number the manufacturer printed on the door.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against a film camera light meter and a flash charging circuit. Voltage held steady at 6V under light-meter draw and the flash capacitor charged without hesitation across multiple cycles.
  • Terminal short risk in storage: Store CR-P2 cells away from loose coins, keys, or any metal surface. Both terminals are exposed on the same face of the cell. Contact with a conductive object across those terminals will silently drain the cell before it ever enters a camera.

Flash not cycling at full speed when shooting in cold conditions

Li-MnO2 cells lose available capacity as temperature drops — this is a chemistry-level behaviour, not a defect. At temperatures below 10°C, the cell's internal resistance rises, which slows current delivery to the flash capacitor. The flash still charges and fires, but recycle time extends noticeably. Warming the camera body between shots by keeping it inside a coat pocket restores normal cycle speed.

CR-P2 reading below 6V on a multimeter straight out of the packaging

An open-circuit voltage reading on a fresh CR-P2 can show 5.8–5.9V with no load applied — this is normal for Li-MnO2 chemistry at rest. The cell stabilises closer to its rated 6V once it sees actual current draw from the camera circuit. If the reading is below 5.5V with no load, the cell may have been drained in storage by terminal contact. Check the cell surface for marks, and test under load by inserting it into the camera and triggering the light meter.

Frequently Asked Questions

My camera flash stopped recycling at its normal speed after I put in a new CR-P2 — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. Cold air raises the internal resistance of Li-MnO2 chemistry, which slows how fast current reaches the flash capacitor. The flash will still fire, but recycle time stretches out. Keep the camera warm between shots — inside a jacket pocket is enough — and cycle speed returns to normal.

I inserted the new CR-P2 correctly but the camera shows no power at all — what do I check?

Start with polarity orientation. The CR-P2 is asymmetric, but some compartment doors are easy to close even with the cell reversed. Check the label on the battery door against the flat and curved ends of the cell. If orientation is correct, look at the terminal contacts inside the compartment for oxidation or debris — a flat surface with no spring tension won't make reliable contact. Clean the contacts with a dry cotton swab and re-seat the cell.

The CR-P2 ran out much faster than expected — I only used the camera a handful of times. What drains it?

Flash charging draws the most current from this cell — far more than the shutter or light meter. If the flash was enabled for every shot, including in daylight where it wasn't needed, that explains short life. A second common cause is partial discharge before installation: a cell stored loose in a bag with metal objects loses charge silently through terminal contact. Check the packaging for signs of prior contact, and store spare cells in their original blister or a small plastic case.
