Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Canon ES-8000V / FV500 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-970)
This is a 7.4V, 6600mAh Li-ion replacement for Canon's BP-970 battery pack. It fits the ES-8000V, V50Hi, FV500, ES-7000es, and over 90 additional Canon camcorder and camera bodies that share the same BP-970 footprint and connector. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge.
- BP-970 platform compatibility: Canon built a wide range of camcorders and cameras around the same 7.4V dual-cell Li-ion rail, unified connector, and BMS handshake. Every body on the fit list draws from the same voltage spec, which is why one cell covers such a broad model range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a Canon camcorder body and monitored BMS communication. The protection circuit handled charge termination correctly and flagged cell status accurately on the body's display throughout the test cycle.
- First-use charge cycle for accurate indicator readings: On first install, run a full charge from within the Canon OEM charger or camera body before any recording session. Some Canon BMS implementations need one complete charge cycle to calibrate the remaining-battery display to the new cell's discharge curve.
Canon BMS rejecting a third-party BP-970 cell on first install
Some Canon bodies — particularly older ES and FV series — run an authentication check when a new cell is seated. If the body shows a blinking battery icon or powers off immediately, it has not yet accepted the cell's BMS handshake. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, then place it in the OEM charger for a full charge before returning it to the body. One complete charge-in-charger cycle is usually enough to clear the rejection state and allow normal operation.
Battery percentage jumping erratically during recording
This happens when the camera body's indicator is still mapping voltage thresholds from the old cell's worn discharge curve onto a new, full-capacity cell. The replacement discharges at a shallower slope than a degraded original, so the body misreads the mid-range voltage band and skips percentage steps. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the body to let the BMS re-map thresholds against the new curve. After conditioning, the display should track steadily from 100% down to the low-voltage cutoff at approximately 6.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Canon camcorder shows a blinking battery icon and shuts off immediately after I insert the new BP-970 — what's happening?
This is a BMS authentication check the Canon body runs on any new cell it hasn't seen before. Remove the battery, seat it again firmly, then charge it fully in your OEM Canon charger before putting it back in the body. One full charge-in-charger cycle resets the handshake state and the body accepts the cell on the next power-on.
The battery percentage on my Canon ES-series is jumping — it drops from 80% to 40% in seconds, then climbs again. Is the cell faulty?
The cell is likely fine. Canon's percentage indicator maps voltage thresholds calibrated to an aged cell's steeper discharge curve, so a new 6600mAh cell sitting in the mid-voltage band confuses the readout. Run two complete charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the BMS will re-map to the new cell's shallower curve. After that, the display should step down steadily rather than skipping.
My Canon camcorder body gets noticeably warm during long recording sessions — is the new battery causing it?
The battery is not the source. Under sustained video recording, the Canon body draws simultaneously from the sensor, image processor, and any active stabilisation — that combined current pull generates heat in the body itself, not in the cell. The BP-970's 6600mAh capacity means the cell stays in a mid-state-of-charge for longer, which actually keeps cell-generated heat lower than a smaller pack would. If the body overheats, check that ventilation slots on the grip side are unobstructed.
