Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Carewell CPM-8000 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB855183)
This 7.4V 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM AHB855183 cell in the Carewell CPM-8000 continuous passive motion machine. The CPM-8000 is a motorized rehabilitation device used post-surgery to move joints passively through a controlled range of motion. When the original battery degrades and the unit loses portability, this replacement restores cordless operation for patient recovery sessions.
- CPM-8000 platform fit: The AHB855183 cell uses a specific connector pinout and BMS communication protocol tied to the CPM-8000 controller board. The voltage rail and cell geometry — 74.50 × 52.40 × 15.30mm — match the OEM bay exactly, so no adapter or modification is required.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through the CPM-8000 power-on sequence and confirmed the BMS handshake completed without fault codes. Load cycling through the motor drive confirmed stable voltage delivery across the full operating range.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the CPM-8000 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
CPM-8000 shutting off mid-session in the first ten uses
New Li-Polymer cells have a higher internal resistance before the electrode structure fully forms. The CPM-8000 motor controller pulls a sharp current spike at the start of each motion cycle, and a new cell's internal resistance causes a brief voltage sag under that load. The BMS reads this sag as a low-cell-voltage condition and trips the output. This behaviour typically resolves after 8–10 full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance drops to its rated value.
CPM-8000 will not power on after the battery sat unused
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per month in storage. If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell (5.0V pack total), the BMS enters deep-discharge lockout to protect the chemistry and the device will show no response at all. To recover, connect the charger and leave it for a minimum of 30–60 minutes without attempting to power on — the charge IC applies a low-current pre-charge trickle below 3.0V per cell to bring the pack back above the BMS re-enable threshold before switching to standard CC/CV charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The CPM-8000 sounds a low battery alarm right after I put in a fully charged replacement — what's happening?
The CPM-8000's BMS uses a learned capacity profile calibrated to the OEM cell chemistry, and a new cell hasn't yet established that profile. On the first few cycles the controller reads state-of-charge conservatively, which triggers the low battery threshold even when the pack is full. Run one complete charge-discharge-recharge cycle without interrupting the self-test at startup, and the BMS recalibrates its threshold to the new cell's actual capacity curve.
The charge indicator on the CPM-8000 won't reach 100% on the first charge — is the battery faulty?
It's not faulty. The CPM-8000 charge IC applies a deliberately conservative current limit on cells it hasn't seen before, capping the reported state of charge below 100% until the cell's voltage response is mapped. Complete the first full charge uninterrupted, discharge the device through normal use, then recharge fully. After that conditioning cycle the charge indicator will report accurately.
My CPM-8000 passed its self-test but shuts off unexpectedly partway through a session — nothing alarmed beforehand.
This points to a voltage sag under motor-start load rather than a state-of-charge issue. New Li-Polymer cells have elevated internal resistance in the first several cycles, and the CPM-8000's motor draws a sharp current spike at the start of each motion sweep. That spike causes a momentary cell voltage drop that trips the BMS overcurrent or undervoltage cutoff silently. Run the device through 8–10 full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use — internal resistance drops significantly by cycle 10 and the sag falls below the BMS trip point.
