Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

CHICCO NC3000 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (4-VH790670)

This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the CHICCO NC3000 baby monitor parent unit handset. It replaces OEM part numbers 4-VH790670 and SBP40CI. When the original battery no longer holds a charge, this swap restores full wireless monitoring and two-way audio between the parent unit and baby station.

  • NC3000 parent unit fit: The NC3000 parent handset runs on a 4-cell Ni-MH pack at 4.8V nominal. The connector, cell count, and BMS voltage thresholds match the OEM spec — the handset firmware communicates charge state directly through the pack's internal contacts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the NC3000 parent unit. The BMS accepted the pack without fault codes, and the charge indicator progressed normally through all stages to full.
  • Re-pair after power loss: After swapping the battery, re-pair the parent unit with the baby station before first use. The NC3000 loses its wireless link when the parent unit is fully de-powered — the pairing sequence is not stored independently of the live battery.

Parent unit not connecting to the baby station after battery swap

Cutting power to the NC3000 parent unit wipes the active wireless pairing in RAM. A fresh battery alone does not restore the link — the handset needs to re-negotiate the connection with the baby station. Hold the pairing button on both units simultaneously until the status LED confirms sync. If the baby station has also been powered off during the swap, bring it online first so the parent unit has a signal to lock onto.

Range drops noticeably in the first hour after fitting a new battery

The NC3000 radio transmitter draws from the battery rail directly, and Ni-MH cells start below rated voltage when fresh off the shelf — typically 4.4–4.5V for a 4.8V pack. At that lower voltage, the radio stage runs at reduced power output, which cuts effective range. Allow the unit to complete a full first charge cycle before testing range. Once the cells are fully charged and have completed one discharge cycle, the voltage rail stabilises and range returns to spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

The parent unit screen is on all night and the battery is dead by morning — is something wrong with this battery?

Nothing is wrong with the battery. The NC3000 screen running continuously overnight is a sustained high draw on a 2000mAh Ni-MH pack, and it will deplete before morning. Go into the parent unit display settings and enable the screen timeout or auto-dim function — this alone cuts the draw significantly and extends use through the night.

Night vision on the baby station camera stopped working after we swapped the parent unit battery — are they connected?

They are connected indirectly. The baby station's IR LEDs activate on a signal command from the parent unit, which requires a stable wireless link and sufficient parent-side voltage. If the parent unit battery was sitting low — under 4.2V — the radio signal can be too weak to trigger night vision reliably. Charge the parent unit fully, re-pair the two units, then retest night vision in a dark room.

The CHICCO NC3000 parent unit shows charging but the battery percentage never climbs past 50% — what's happening?

This is a classic Ni-MH memory effect if the old battery was repeatedly charged from a partial state. The new replacement battery does not carry that memory, but if the parent unit's charge circuit has been calibrated to a degraded pack, it may misread capacity early in the cycle. Run two full discharge-to-charge cycles without interrupting the charge midway. After the second full cycle, the charge circuit recalibrates and the percentage reading should track accurately to 100%.
