Fits Clarity 50613.002, D603, D613, and D613C cordless handsets; replaces OEM part numbers BT184342, BT284342, and BY0929.
2.4V and 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sufficient voltage for base station acceptance and handset RF transmission without dropout.
Connector slides onto the battery contacts inside the handset compartment; no locking tab — seat firmly until contacts close.
We bench-tested this cell on a Clarity base charger; BMS accepted it at 2.4V nominal and held charge across a 48-hour standby cycle.
After installing the battery, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cells need slow charging to reach rated capacity on the first cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clarity 50613.002 / D603 / D613 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT184342)

This is a 2.4V 700mAh Ni-MH battery replacing OEM part numbers BT184342, BT284342, and BY0929. It fits Clarity cordless phone models including the 50613.002, D603, D613, and D613C. Install it when the original pack no longer holds a charge and the handset dies faster than expected.

  • Clarity D603 / D613 / 50613.002 handsets: These models share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack format, identical connector pinout, and the same base station charging circuit. One battery fits across the range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a compatible Clarity base station. The BMS accepted charge from the first cycle, and cell voltage held within spec across repeated draws under simulated talk and standby loads.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a continuous 16-hour charge before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones are shipped partially discharged — skipping this slow initial charge leaves capacity on the table for the first several cycles.

Base station charging error light on a fresh NiMH pack

Clarity base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm charge acceptance. A new or stored NiMH battery can arrive with cell voltage low enough that the base reads the pack as faulty and throws an error light instead of charging. This is a voltage threshold issue, not a defective battery. To clear it, hold the handset in the cradle for two to three minutes, remove it, and reseat it — this forces the base to re-sample cell voltage. If the error persists, measure cell voltage at the battery terminals; any reading above 1.8V total means the base will eventually accept the pack.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cordless phone batteries do not reach rated capacity on the first cycle — 700mAh is the figure after three to five full charge and discharge cycles. Out of the box, the first cycle typically delivers 60–70% of that figure. Each subsequent full cycle conditions the cells and recovers more capacity. Run three complete charge and discharge cycles before judging talk time — cycle four is usually where the battery stabilises at or near rated 700mAh output.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Clarity base station shows a red or blinking error light after I put the new battery in — is the battery dead?

The base station's delta-V charging circuit rejects packs that arrive below its voltage acceptance threshold, which is common after storage. The battery is not dead. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — the base re-samples voltage on each insertion. If the light clears within a minute of reseating, charging has started normally.

My Clarity handset loses range and starts breaking up right after a fresh charge — why does this happen with a new battery?

The cordless handset's RF transmitter draws a brief high current burst to maintain signal, and NiMH cells in the first few cycles sag under that load more than a conditioned pack does. The result is a momentary voltage drop that weakens transmit power and cuts range. Run three full charge and discharge cycles to condition the cells — voltage stability under RF load improves with each cycle, and range returns to normal by cycle three or four.

The Clarity handset is fully charged but goes dead sitting on the desk overnight — why is it draining so fast on standby?

Standby drain this severe almost always means the handset is not making proper contact with the base charging pins. A slightly misaligned or dirty contact pin stops the trickle charge that normally offsets standby draw, so the battery discharges on its own overnight. Clean the gold contacts on both the handset base and the cradle with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charging indicator light comes on within 10 seconds of docking.
