Tesco ARC210 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (ESP-1-47-1166)

This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Tesco ARC210, ARC211, ARC212, and ARC410 cordless phone handsets. It replaces OEM part ESP-1-47-1166. The pack slots directly into the handset battery compartment and connects to the base station charging circuit.

• ARC210, ARC211, ARC212, ARC410 compatibility: These handsets share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack format, connector pinout, and base-station charging voltage rail — one battery fits across the range without modification.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the base station charge cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge handshake correctly, with no error light triggered on the base unit.
• First charge on a new NiMH handset pack: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells at storage charge need a slow, complete initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting this short will reduce performance across the first several cycles.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

New NiMH cells ship at partial charge and typically don't hit full rated capacity until three to five full charge-discharge cycles have completed. The Tesco ARC base station delivers a trickle charge, so each cycle takes time to complete properly. Don't judge the battery after the first day — put it through several full cycles with the handset in the base overnight each time. By cycle five, capacity should stabilise at or close to the rated 700mAh.

This happens when the replacement pack's resting voltage is low enough that the base station charge circuit doesn't recognise it as a valid NiMH cell. Some Tesco base units use a voltage-sense check before enabling the charge current. Remove the handset, leave it out of the base for 60 seconds, then reseat it firmly — this resets the charge sense cycle. If the error light persists, check the battery contacts on the handset are clean and making full contact; a resting pack voltage below 2.0V may need a trickle-start before the base accepts it.
