Voltage 14.8V, capacity 4400mAh (65.12Wh) — delivers the rated output for sustained CPU and display load on M72 series notebooks without voltage sag under full system draw.
Connector slides into the M72 battery slot; locking tab seats flush against the chassis catch and locks with a firm click when fully inserted.
We bench-tested the cell on an M72X platform; BMS accepted the handshake on first connection and charged to 100% without fault codes or cutoff at 80%.
Run one full discharge cycle to system hibernation, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warnings that appear after every cell swap on Clevo platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clevo M72 / M72X Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (6-87-M720S-4M4)

This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for Clevo M72 series notebooks. It fits the M72, M72X, M72XR, and M72XS, along with the extended M720 lineup. OEM part numbers covered include 6-87-M720S-4M4, M720BAT-4, M720SBAT-4, and several related variants.

  • M72 and M720 series compatibility: These models share a common 14.8V four-cell architecture with the same connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. Swapping across M72, M72X, M72XR, and M720 variants works because the BIOS reads the same EEPROM data structure regardless of sub-model suffix.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on a Clevo M72X. The BMS accepted charge from 0V recovery, balanced all four cells within 20mV by the end of the first full cycle, and reported correct Wh figures to the OS after two calibration passes.
  • Post-install calibration on Clevo M72 notebooks: After fitting this battery, run the laptop down until it hibernates on its own, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to complete and clears the inaccurate health warning the firmware throws after every cell swap.

Clevo M72 shutting down at 20–30% shown on the gauge

When the M72 cuts out while the gauge still shows charge remaining, the cell is hitting a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load. The fuel gauge IC calculated remaining capacity against the old cell's discharge curve, not the new one. Under full load, current draw pulls the pack below the 12.0V BMS cutoff before the gauge reaches zero. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles and the fuel gauge IC will recalibrate its curve to match the new cell's actual capacity.

BIOS reporting wrong Wh rating after battery swap

The Wh figure the BIOS displays comes from EEPROM data written to the cell pack, not from a live measurement. If the replacement cell's EEPROM was written with a different rated value than the original, the system info page will show a number that doesn't match the label on the battery. This is a firmware reporting mismatch, not a capacity fault. Verify actual capacity by running a full discharge cycle and comparing the energy drawn — a healthy 65.12Wh pack should deliver within 5% of that figure under moderate load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Clevo M72 BIOS shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% health — is the cell faulty?

The BIOS is reading stale EEPROM health data cached from the old cell, not a live measurement of the new one. This happens on every Clevo M72 battery swap until the firmware completes a learn cycle. Run the laptop down to automatic hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that sequence, the BIOS will report accurate health data for the new cell.

The battery gauge on my Clevo M72 is jumping around wildly — it reads 60%, then 80%, then drops to 40% within minutes.

The fuel gauge IC is still running its estimation algorithm against the discharge curve of the old cell. It takes two to three full discharge-to-hibernate-then-full-charge cycles before the IC maps the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity curve. Until those cycles complete, the percentage display will be erratic. Do not judge the cell's condition until at least three calibration cycles have finished.

The new battery in my Clevo M72 won't charge above 80% — it just stops there.

Some Clevo BIOS versions ship with a charge limit set at 80% to extend cell lifespan — this is a firmware-controlled threshold, not a fault with the replacement cell. Check the BIOS power settings under the battery or power management section for a "battery charge limit" or "eco charge" option and set it to 100%. If the BIOS has no such setting, check whether any Clevo or Windows battery management utility is active and enforcing the same cap.
