Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clevo Nexoc G505 / P170HMx — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P150HMBAT-8)
This is a 14.8V, 5200mAh (76.96Wh) Li-ion battery pack for the Clevo Nexoc G505 and P170HMx series notebooks. It replaces OEM part P150HMBAT-8 and its cross-references: 6-87-X510S-4D7, 6-87-X510S-4D73, and 6-87-X510S-4J7. Match your original part number before ordering — these models share the same bay, but connector pinout differences exist across Clevo chassis variants.
- Nexoc G505 and P170HMx compatibility: Both models draw from the same 14.8V battery rail and use identical connector and BMS handshake protocols under the P150HMBAT-8 platform. The EEPROM data embedded in this pack matches what the Clevo EC firmware expects during the initial power-on authentication sequence.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and load cycles on the Clevo platform. The BMS held charge cutoff correctly at cell-full voltage, and the EC firmware recognised the pack without throwing an unknown-battery flag or blocking charge initiation.
- First-install calibration on Clevo firmware: After fitting this pack, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on low battery, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the Clevo EC to run its battery learn cycle against the new cells and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
Why the Nexoc G505 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap
The Clevo embedded controller reads health data cached in the original battery's EEPROM. When a new pack is installed, the EC compares fresh cell data against its stored baseline and flags the mismatch as degraded health — even on a brand-new replacement. This is not a fault with the new pack. Running the battery learn cycle (full discharge to hibernate, then a complete uninterrupted charge to 100%) rewrites the EC's baseline and clears the warning. After two to three full cycles, the BIOS health indicator should read accurately.
Nexoc G505 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This is a voltage cliff symptom. When the CPU and display draw peak load simultaneously, the cells must sustain voltage under stress — if the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated to the new cell chemistry, it over-reports remaining capacity and the laptop shuts off before the gauge reaches zero. The fix is calibration: let the battery discharge fully to hibernate cutoff under normal use rather than shutting down manually. After two to three complete discharge-charge cycles, the fuel gauge IC maps the new cell's actual voltage curve and the early shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Nexoc G505 BIOS is showing the new battery as "unknown" or 0% right after fitting it — is the pack faulty?
It is not faulty. The Clevo EC reads cached EEPROM data from the old pack and flags any mismatch as unknown during the first boot. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this triggers the battery learn cycle and writes the new cell's data into the EC baseline. The unknown status clears after that first complete cycle.
Why does the fuel gauge on the G505 jump around wildly for the first few charges — showing 60%, then 85%, then back to 40%?
The fuel gauge IC inside the Clevo platform calibrates its capacity model against the old cell's charge curve. With a new pack installed, the IC is mapping an unfamiliar voltage profile and its estimates are inaccurate until it collects enough data. Let the battery go through two to three full discharge-to-hibernate then charge-to-100% cycles without interrupting them. After that, the IC locks onto the new cell's curve and the gauge readings stabilise.
The system info screen is showing the wrong Wh rating for this replacement — it says something different from 76.96Wh on the original battery page.
The Wh value displayed in Windows or the BIOS is read from the EEPROM embedded in the battery pack, which stores the manufacturer's rated figure at the time of production. Cell chemistry tolerances mean the actual measured capacity at a given charge cycle can differ slightly from the EEPROM value. This is a data display difference, not a capacity defect. Verify the physical pack label reads P150HMBAT-8 and that the nominal voltage shows 14.8V — if both match, the pack is correct.
