Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Coolpad Y91 / Fengshang 3 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (CPLD-380)
This is a 3.8V, 2500mAh (9.5Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Coolpad Y91, Fengshang 3, and Y803-9 smartphones. It replaces OEM part number CPLD-380. If your original cell has degraded, swollen, or failed entirely, this cell restores normal operation for calls, messaging, and apps.
- Y91, Fengshang 3, and Y803-9 compatibility: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions (79.20 × 61.50 × 3.20 mm), the same 3.8V nominal voltage rail, and the same CPLD-380 connector and BMS handshake — so one cell covers all three variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on Y91 hardware. The BMS accepted charge current correctly, protection circuitry triggered at expected low-voltage thresholds, and the fuel gauge IC read within normal calibration range across multiple cycles.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell — preventing erratic percentage readings from the start.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Coolpad Y91 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC on the Y91 is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop under modem and screen load than the IC expects at that state of charge. When voltage sags briefly below the shutdown threshold — even at a reported 25% — the phone cuts out. One full discharge cycle down to automatic power-off, followed by a full uninterrupted charge, resets the coulomb counter and clears the symptom.
Phone won't power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Lithium-polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage — the phone will show no response at all, not even a charge indicator. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a PC USB port, which may not supply enough current) and leave it untouched for 15–20 minutes. The BMS recovery circuit needs sustained input voltage to exit lockout before the phone will boot. If the charge LED comes on, the cell is recovering; let it reach at least 3.0V before attempting to power on.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Coolpad Y91 percentage jumps around erratically after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Y91 holds a discharge curve profile from the old cell, and when a new cell with a different impedance is installed, the coulomb counter loses accuracy immediately. Run one complete discharge cycle — use the phone normally until it shuts itself off — then charge to 100% without interruption. That single cycle gives the IC enough data to rebuild its curve against the new cell, and erratic readings typically stop after that.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Y91 — my charger used to trigger fast charge but now it just trickles.
This is a known first-cycle behaviour when a new BMS negotiates with the charge IC for the first time. The Y91's charge controller runs a handshake to verify the cell's internal resistance before unlocking higher current — on a brand-new cell with slightly higher impedance than a broken-in cell, the controller defaults to slow charge as a precaution. Complete one full standard charge cycle at the lower current rate. On the second charge cycle the handshake passes and fast charging re-engages at normal current levels.
My Coolpad Y91 gets noticeably warm near the back of the phone during the first few charges after the battery swap — should I stop charging?
Mild warmth on the first two or three charge cycles is normal with a new high-impedance lithium-polymer cell. The charge IC works harder to push current into a cell that hasn't yet settled to its steady-state internal resistance, generating slightly more heat than usual. Stop charging only if the phone becomes hot to the touch or if the back panel shows any deformation. If it stays at warm-but-not-hot, continue normally — resistance drops as the cell cycles in, and the warmth resolves on its own by the third or fourth charge.
