Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Creative Nomad Jukebox ZenTouch — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (DAA-BA0004)
This 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Creative Nomad Jukebox ZenTouch, Zen Touch 20GB, Zen Touch 40GB, and DAP-HD0014. It fits the same footprint as the factory pack at 86.17 × 49.05 × 3.90mm. Capacity matches the OEM spec at 5.55Wh.
- ZenTouch 20GB and 40GB compatibility: Both storage variants use the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and share the DAA-BA0004 connector pinout. The BMS handshake is identical across both, so one cell covers the full ZenTouch line.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the ZenTouch platform. The BMS accepted full charge current without triggering protection cutoff, and voltage held steady through the discharge curve under audio playback load.
- First charge after installation: After a cell swap, connect the ZenTouch to its charger before powering on. Media players frequently enter deep-discharge protection after a flat or removed cell — supplying charge current first lets the BMS trickle the cell back above the wake threshold before the device attempts to boot.
Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the ZenTouch
The ZenTouch reads state-of-charge using a voltage-threshold lookup tied to the original cell's discharge curve. After a new cell is installed, the firmware hasn't mapped the new cell's resting voltage to an accurate percentage. The indicator will show erratic jumps — sometimes 20–30% at once — during the first few charge and discharge cycles. Run two or three full cycles and the display will stabilise as the firmware recalibrates its threshold table against the new cell's actual voltage behaviour.
Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty
The audio amplifier in the ZenTouch draws a short current spike each time it drives output, and at the tail end of a discharge cycle the cell voltage sags enough to fall below the amplifier's minimum rail. The device cuts audio — or shuts down — while the battery indicator still shows a residual charge percentage. This happens because the indicator is reading resting voltage, not load voltage. If playback stops unexpectedly, reconnect the charger and let the cell recover to at least 3.7V before resuming.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ZenTouch won't turn on at all after sitting unused for months — is the battery dead or is something else wrong?
Extended storage often drains a Li-Polymer cell below the BMS wake threshold, around 2.5V, at which point the ZenTouch won't respond to the power button at all. Connect it to the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing power — the BMS needs time to trickle current into the cell before it can support a normal boot sequence. If the device still won't respond after 30 minutes, check that the charger is delivering current by confirming the charge indicator LED is lit. Once the cell recovers above 3.0V the device should boot normally.
The battery percentage on my ZenTouch jumps around wildly after I replaced the cell — is the new battery faulty?
The ZenTouch firmware maps state-of-charge to a fixed voltage-threshold table calibrated against the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve, so the display reads the voltage and places it in the wrong position on that table. This produces sudden jumps of 15–30% during early cycles. Run two or three complete charge-to-discharge cycles and the firmware will re-anchor its thresholds to the new cell's actual voltage behaviour — the percentage readout will settle after that.
My ZenTouch cuts out mid-track even though the battery still shows charge remaining — what's happening?
The audio amplifier pulls a brief current spike on each output drive, and at the low end of the discharge curve the cell's load voltage sags below the amplifier's minimum operating rail. The battery indicator is reading resting voltage between those spikes and still shows charge, but under load the cell can't hold the rail. Reconnect the charger until the cell reaches at least 3.7V resting voltage, then resume playback — the cutout will stop once the cell is away from the bottom of its discharge curve.
