Fits Creative Vado HD camcorder, replacing the original 3.7V lithium-ion battery pack.
3.7V at 1050mAh delivers 3.89Wh total energy for sustained HD video recording on this compact handheld.
Connector slides straight into the Vado HD battery slot with a positive-contact design and spring-loaded retention tab.
We bench-tested this cell in the Vado HD charging cradle — BMS accepted charge immediately, no fault cycles, voltage ramped clean to 4.2V nominal.
After swapping this battery into the Vado HD, connect the charger and wait 30 minutes before powering on — the device enters a deep discharge protection state during storage that requires a slow trickle cycle to wake the power management circuit.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Creative Vado HD — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 1050mAh Li-ion battery for the Creative Vado HD pocket camcorder. It replaces the original cell when charge capacity has dropped and recording sessions are cutting short. Dimensions are 52.96 x 35.63 x 7.00mm — confirm these against your existing battery before ordering.

  • Vado HD compatibility: The Vado HD uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a compact form factor that fits the flush-mount battery bay. Voltage and physical dimensions must both match — a cell that is even 1mm too thick will prevent the battery door from closing.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Vado HD platform. The BMS accepted a standard 5V USB charge input without fault flags, and voltage hold was stable across the discharge curve until the low-battery cutoff triggered cleanly.
  • Li-ion activation after extended storage: If the Vado HD arrives depleted or has been sitting unused, connect the charger before attempting to power on. Cells stored below 3.0V may enter a deep discharge protection state where the device will not respond to the power button until a trickle charge has raised cell voltage above the BMS recovery threshold.

Battery percentage jumping after fitting a new cell in the Vado HD

The Vado HD uses a voltage-threshold fuel gauge — it reads remaining charge by measuring cell voltage, not by tracking charge history. A fresh cell has no charge history stored, so the indicator recalibrates in real time as voltage settles. You may see the percentage jump by 10–20% in the first few cycles. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles and the reading will stabilise at the correct voltage-to-percentage mapping.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The Vado HD's video output and sensor circuits draw more current during active recording than during standby. At the end of a discharge curve, cell voltage sags under that load faster than the fuel gauge can track. The device shuts down to protect the cell even though the indicator still shows a remaining charge. This is a load-sag cutoff, not a faulty battery. Charge the cell back to 4.2V and the full usable capacity will be available again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vado HD won't turn on even though I just put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The most likely cause is that the replacement cell shipped in a partially discharged state and has dropped below the BMS recovery threshold. Connect the Vado HD to its charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. The BMS needs to see a sustained trickle charge before it will allow the cell voltage to climb above 3.0V and release the protection circuit. Once the indicator light changes, the device should power on normally.

The Vado HD records for a while then shuts off suddenly — is the new battery defective?

This is almost always a load-sag cutoff, not a defective cell. During active HD recording, the sensor and write buffer draw a spike of current that causes cell voltage to dip sharply at the end of the discharge curve. The BMS reads that voltage dip as a low-cell condition and cuts power to protect the cell — even if the on-screen indicator still showed charge remaining. Charge the battery fully to 4.2V and avoid starting a long recording session when the indicator is below 20%.

After swapping the battery, the charge percentage on my Vado HD jumps around and doesn't seem accurate — is the gauge broken?

The Vado HD's charge gauge reads voltage directly rather than tracking charge history, so a new cell with no prior discharge cycles will cause erratic readings until the gauge recalibrates. Run two complete charge and discharge cycles — charge to full, record until the device shuts off, then charge to full again. After those two cycles the voltage-to-percentage mapping stabilises and the indicator will track accurately through normal use.
