Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cricket Debut Smart / SL101AE — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-A36CT)
This is a 3.8V, 2450mAh (9.31Wh) Li-ion battery for the Cricket Debut Smart and SL101AE smartphones. It replaces OEM part number BL-A36CT directly. Fit the replacement when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- Debut Smart and SL101AE compatibility: Both models run the same 3.8V power rail, use the same BL-A36CT connector footprint, and share the same charge IC handshake — one cell fits both without adapter or firmware change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the Debut Smart platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.35V, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly on an over-discharge test below 3.0V.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Debut Smart after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still reading the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff — where voltage drops sharply under modem or screen load — at a point the gauge still reads as 20–30%. The phone's under-voltage protection cuts power before the OS can log a low-battery warning. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate forces the coulomb counter to rebuild its reference curve against the actual cell behaviour.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement
A fresh Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a cycled one. The charge IC pushes current into a higher-resistance cell, and the extra energy dissipates as heat at the cell terminals and the board-side charge IC. This is normal for the first three to five cycles and fades as impedance drops with use. If the phone stays warm past cycle five or the back panel feels hot rather than warm, check that fast charging is disabled and confirm the charge port is clean and making full contact.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Cricket Debut Smart won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V during storage — this is a protection trip, not a dead cell. Plug the phone into a wall charger (not a PC port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button; the charge IC trickle-charges the cell until it clears the BMS threshold. Once the phone shows a charging indicator, do a full charge before first use. If no indicator appears after 45 minutes, the cell has self-discharged past recovery and needs replacement.
The battery percentage on my Debut Smart jumps erratically — it reads 45%, then suddenly drops to 12% with no warning. What's happening?
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve, and until that process completes it interpolates percentage from a reference that no longer matches the actual cell. Run two full discharge-charge cycles at standard charge rate with fast charging disabled — this gives the IC enough charge-and-drain data to anchor its curve correctly. After the second cycle, erratic jumps should stop. If jumping continues past three full cycles, the fuel gauge IC itself may need a hardware reset, which is triggered on most Android builds by powering off, removing the battery for 60 seconds, and reinserting.
Fast charging stopped working on my Debut Smart after I fitted the replacement battery — the phone only charges slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the USB-PD or proprietary charge protocol handshake between the charger and the phone's charge IC can fail because the BMS on the new cell hasn't yet confirmed cell health to the system. Charge the phone once at standard rate to completion, then reboot the device fully before plugging in again. After a clean reboot with a full charge logged, the charge IC re-negotiates the fast-charge contract with the charger. Confirm you are using the original wall adapter — third-party chargers that don't support the correct voltage step may permanently fall back to standard rate.
