Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Critikon Systems Dinamap Plus 8710 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EPP-100C)
This is a 14.4V, 4400mAh lithium-ion battery built to OEM part number EPP-100C. It fits the Critikon Systems Dinamap Plus 8710, 8720, and 8725 non-invasive blood pressure monitors used in clinical and hospital settings. Voltage and capacity match the original specification exactly.
- 8710, 8720, and 8725 compatibility: All three Dinamap Plus models share the same 14.4V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell covers the full range. The charge IC on each monitor expects the same chemistry signature and cutoff thresholds.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Dinamap Plus 8720 under a simulated clinical load profile. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags, completed the charge cycle cleanly, and held voltage within the expected band across repeated measurement sequences.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the monitor to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Dinamap Plus runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power mid-cycle triggers a false battery fault that persists until a clean reboot is performed.
Why the Dinamap Plus reports a battery fault after a confirmed full charge
The Dinamap Plus BMS stores calibration thresholds tuned to the aged chemistry profile of the original cell. A new cell presents a slightly different internal resistance and charge curve, which the BMS can misread as an out-of-spec pack on the first cycle. This does not mean the battery is faulty. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle through the device, then recharge to 100% — the BMS recalibrates its thresholds and the fault clears. If the fault persists beyond the second full cycle, check the connector seating and confirm terminal voltage reads 14.4V at the pack.
Charge indicator stops below 100% on first charge
On the first charge of a new Li-ion cell, the Dinamap Plus charge IC applies a conservative current limit while it profiles the pack's internal resistance. This causes the indicator to plateau short of 100% and stall for an extended period before completing. The cell is still charging — this is normal first-cycle behaviour, not a fault. Leave the monitor on charge until the indicator clears; subsequent charges complete to full capacity without this delay.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Dinamap Plus alarms low battery immediately after I put in a fully charged replacement — is the battery dead?
It is not dead. The Dinamap Plus BMS compares the new cell's internal resistance against thresholds calibrated for the worn original, and a fresh cell reads differently on the first cycle. Run the battery down through normal use and recharge it fully once — the BMS resets its reference point and the low-battery alarm stops triggering on a full pack. Confirm terminal voltage at 14.4V before assuming a cell fault.
The monitor will not power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for several months before installation.
Self-discharge during storage can drop a Li-ion cell below the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 10–11V for a 14.4V pack. The Dinamap Plus BMS will not initiate a boot sequence if it reads the pack as over-discharged. Connect the monitor to mains power and leave it on charge for at least two hours before attempting to power on — the charge IC applies a trickle current that brings the cell back above the recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes.
The Dinamap Plus shuts off mid-measurement during the first week of use with the new battery — what is causing this?
Medical monitor load profiles spike current during the inflation and deflation cycle of a blood pressure measurement. In the first ten cycles on a new cell, the BMS applies tighter voltage-sag limits and will trip the cutoff if the cell has not yet settled into its full charge-acceptance window. This resolves as the cell completes its break-in cycles. To get through break-in faster, run full charge-discharge cycles on the bench rather than during patient monitoring, and do not use the monitor in clinical settings until it has completed at least one full cycle without cutoff.
