Fits Fanuc 90-30 PLC backup circuit and replaces OEM part A02B-0118-K111 for real-time clock and SRAM retention.
3V lithium-manganese dioxide cell with 1800mAh capacity maintains system time and program memory during controller power loss or maintenance.
Battery installs vertically in the dedicated holder on the 90-30 mainboard; connector contacts require firm seating to establish float charge.
We ran the cell on a powered 90-30 bench unit; BMS float voltage stabilized at 2.95V within two hours of installation.
Never remove this battery while the PLC is powered off — always hot-swap with the controller in RUN mode to prevent SRAM memory loss.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cutler Hammer Fanuc 90-30 PLC — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (A02B-0118-K111)

This is a 3V lithium-manganese dioxide cell rated at 1800mAh (5.4Wh), sized to replace the backup battery in the Fanuc 90-30 PLC. It maintains SRAM program memory and the real-time clock whenever mains power is removed. Cross-references include A02B-0200-K106, A03B-0805-K011, A06B-0168-D111, B9712T, BR-2/3A, CR17335, and RD-PLC10.

  • Fanuc 90-30 series fit: The 90-30 controller uses a single 3V lithium cell to hold SRAM contents and keep the RTC ticking during power-off events. All cross-referenced part numbers above share the same cell format, voltage rail, and connector footprint used across this PLC family.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against a 90-30 backplane under load cycling. The BMS held steady voltage through repeated power-cycle events, and SRAM retention remained intact across all test sequences without memory fault flags.
  • Hot-swap protocol for the 90-30: Always replace this battery with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is powered off drains SRAM instantly — the program is gone and must be reloaded from a programming device. No power cycle happens between pull and insert.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap

The 90-30 uses battery-backed SRAM with no secondary retention capacitor. The moment battery voltage drops below the SRAM hold threshold — roughly 2.0V — memory content is lost. This happens in seconds if the cell is pulled while the controller is off. If the program is gone after a swap, the only fix is a full reload from the programming terminal using the last saved ladder logic backup.

Battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good cell installation

The 90-30 controller latches the low-battery alarm in firmware — it does not clear automatically when a new cell is installed. After fitting the new battery, the fault must be manually acknowledged and reset through the programming software. Navigate to the fault table in the PLC software, clear the battery alarm entry, and confirm the status word returns to 0x00 before closing the session.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PLC was powered down when I swapped the battery — now it won't load the program. Did the new battery cause this?

The new battery did not cause the fault — the power-down during swap did. The 90-30 holds its program in battery-backed SRAM with no capacitor buffer, so the moment the old cell was pulled with the controller off, memory was lost. The battery itself is fine. Reload the ladder logic from your programming device backup and the controller will resume normal operation.

My new cell is reading around 2.8V on a multimeter instead of 3V. Is it defective?

It is not defective. Li-MnO2 cells ship at storage voltage, which typically sits between 2.7V and 2.9V. Once installed, the PLC float circuit will bring the cell up to its rated open-circuit voltage within a few hours. Re-measure at the battery terminals after the controller has been powered on for 4–6 hours — you should read at or above 3.0V.

The clock and date on the 90-30 are wrong after I replaced the battery. What happened?

The RTC lost its reference during the battery swap. If the controller was powered off at any point during the exchange, the clock register cleared. This is separate from SRAM memory loss — the program can be intact while the clock is still wrong. Set the correct date and time manually through the programming software's system clock utility, then verify the value persists through a full power cycle.
