Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic PowerScan PBT9100 / PD9330 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DTL-RBPPM91LK)
This is a 3.7V, 3350mAh Li-ion battery for the Datalogic PowerScan PBT9100, PBT9501, PD9330, and PD9531-RT barcode scanners. It replaces OEM part numbers DTL-RBPPM91LK and RBP-PM91-BK. Fits the same connector and housing as the original pack with no modification needed.
- PBT9100 / PD9330 platform fit: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, battery connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one pack spans all of them. Swapping between models requires no reconfiguration.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through rapid scan-burst sequences on the PBT9100 and confirmed the BMS held stable through combined scan trigger and Bluetooth radio draw without nuisance cutoffs.
- First-shift prep for pick-and-pack: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before using it on the floor. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum, and a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first shift's heavy opening activity.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
A charging error on the dock after a battery swap is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a fault in the pack itself. New battery contacts and dock springs can have a thin oxide layer that raises resistance enough to trigger the dock's fault detection. Wipe the gold contacts on the battery with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner firmly in the cradle, and check that the dock indicator cycles to charging within 10 seconds. If the error persists, check the dock spring tension — the contact force spec for this cradle is around 150g per pin.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
On the PBT9100's Bluetooth platform, the scan trigger and the radio draw current simultaneously during a rapid burst — the imager fires while the radio is mid-transmission. If the cell voltage sags under that combined load, the BMS can momentarily drop supply to the radio module, which the host system reads as a disconnection. This happens most often when the battery is below 30% state of charge. Keep the pack above 3.5V under load — if disconnections are frequent late in a shift, that's the signal to rotate the pack sooner rather than wait for the low-battery alert.

Frequently Asked Questions
The scanner passes over barcodes but won't read them after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?
The imager or laser in the PBT9100 needs a minimum voltage to fire at full intensity. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell may be too low to power the scan engine reliably even though the scanner appears on. Place the unit in its cradle and charge it to full before scanning — the imager draw alone can pull the cell below its operating floor on a partially charged pack. Once fully charged, the read rate should return to normal immediately.
The scanner gets noticeably warm toward the end of a long shift — is that a battery problem?
Sustained warmth during extended use on the PBT9100 comes from the combined thermal load of the scan engine and the Bluetooth radio running continuously inside a compact, enclosed housing. The battery itself contributes some heat through internal resistance as it approaches the lower end of its charge curve. That's normal operating behaviour. If the housing becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, check whether the scanner is being used in a high-ambient-temperature environment — Li-ion cells above 45°C ambient will vent heat more aggressively and the BMS may throttle output to protect the cell.
My shift endurance dropped compared to the old battery — the new pack seems to run out faster.
New Li-ion cells often need two or three full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. If this pack is fresh out of the box, it may be delivering 10–15% below its 3350mAh rating on the first shift. Run three complete cycles — full charge in the cradle, use until the low-battery alert fires, return to cradle — and measure shift endurance on the fourth cycle. If endurance is still short after conditioning, check your scan burst frequency: the PBT9100 in a high-volume pick environment can scan 30–40 times per minute, and combined with constant Bluetooth polling, that sustained draw will shorten a shift compared to lighter-duty use.
